What the hell, I haven't done a Jet's mock in 2 months. If you think it's too early, you may be right. I just like to give other's some possibilities and stimulate conversation. I usually don't do trades, trying to show how we can pick up some more draft picks. * Jets trade down from #15 to late Rd 1. Jet's receive a Rd 2 pick and Rd 5 pick in 2010. * Jets trade up to the top of Rd 2. Give up their Mid Rd 2 pick and 3 Rd next year 2011. * Jets trade Kerry Rhodes for a Rd 3 pick in 2010 and a 4th rd in 2011. The Jets have 8 picks for 2010......1(late), 2(early), 2(late), 3(Mid), 4(mid), 5(late), 6 (mid) & 7(mid). * Jets still have their 4th rd pick...Don't re-up Lito. Rd 1 (late)...Cameron Heyward DE, OSU.......Don't get pissed this is an Ohio State player....he's no Vern. Don't stereo-type this OSU player. Heyward is having a great year. Trust me this 6'6" 290 player is the real deal. Great player that is equally good in the backfield and stopping the run. I have no dog in this fight cause I live in Columbus..I knew Vern wasn't going to cut it. Heyward is going to be terrific NFL player...a solid 3-4 DE. Rd 2 (early)...Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho...Best guard in the draft. Tanny trades up to get Faneca's replacement. Iupati playing with D-Brick & Mangold...awesome. Rd 2 (late)...Boo Robinson, NT, Wake...He was in my last mock. Big inside body. Rd 3 (Mid)...Darrell Stuckey, S, Kansas...Good coverage safety, can return punts. Rd 4 (Mid)...Jordan Shipley, WR, Texas...Great receiver, limited with average speed, good route runner. Could step in as our Slot receiver. Rd 5 (late)...Dexter Davis, OLB, Ariz St...Good size LB having a quiet year. Terror off the edge. Rd 6 (mid)...Jermone Murphy, CB, USF...In my last mock. Murphy is a local kid (Jersey) and may surprise. Rd 7 (mid)...Matt Dodge, P, E. Carolina...What the Hell is WW85 thinking taking a punter? Dodge is an excellent Prospect. Hell, if we didn't trade the draft away last year...I wanted Huber out of Cincy. Comments appreciated!!!
That would be the kind of draft that would really put the Jets in a great place for the future, which means they could never actually pull it off. Heyward would be a good pick, definitely like him over some of the other names getting thrown out there as potential 34 DEs. I love the Stuckey pick, he's a terrific player, and a few of the later guys fill solid needs, esp. Shipley. Davis has kind of sucked this year, but I was a big fan of him.
You're probably right....damn shame. Tanny needs to focus on getting more picks. I don't think my trades are unrealistic.
Depends on his combine #s. Even the best guards usually are very late Rd 1 picks (Ben Grubbs a few years ago) or early Rd 2 picks. Remember, I had Tanny trading up to the top of Rd 2..so it's possible.
Shipley is my favorite late mid-early late round prospect. I REALLY think he can be a great PR, and a decent slot guy. I hope the Jets get him
1. Love it! Robinson is my favorite NT prospect behind Cody. 2. Get ready for the "next Wayne Chrebet" battle he would have with Woodhead until Woodhead gets cut. 3. Do we really need to replace Weatherford or is this just the best available player you see still being on the board? And didn't we lose this pick to get O'Connell?
hmmm havent seen a bunch of those guys play so I will refrain from to much judgment. personally, if we did trade down I would flip the picks and address the O line round one and the D line round 2. I think if a guy like Trent Williams, Anthony Davis or perhaps even a Ciron Black are available you consider them. Plus there seem to be a handful of 3-4 ends that could be available in round 2 early like Wootton, Vince Oghobase, etc
Weatherford??.....IMO, he's average. Dodge would be a big upgrade. O'Connell....The answer is Yes and No....It's an undisclosed conditional 7th rd pick. I'm betting the Jets owe nothing.
I think I read somewhere that O'Connell just needed to be on the roster for a certain period for us to lose the pick. Could be wrong though.
Trent Williams has been exposed this season. He will fall and it will be an epic slide. Anthony Davis will more than likely play guard at the next level, and Mike Iupati is a better prospect. Ciron Black is a good player, but I'd rather take a super athletic, dominant run blocking guard in Iupati. Corey Wootton isn't a 3-4 end...yet. He's a project type player, that will more than likely develop into a pretty good player. You don't pass up potentially big time 3-4 ends like Dunlap and Heyward for a up and down player like Wootton.
Rhodes..I wanted to address OT.....but got a stud OG instead. I love Wootton but he's an enigma, great player at times, injury has held him back. Heyward is skyrocketing the boards and is going to leave Wootton and Ogbo in the dust. Love Heyward's pedigree!!
So thanks to youtube just looked up Heyward from the bit I've seen Im mighty impressed besides the fact that the guy just looks physically imposing, he seems to have a good set of pass rush moves (Love the couple of bull rushes I saw)
Good comparison!!! Heyward might not be available in late rd 1 come April.....he's movin' on up!! E....you notice I put in the OSU disclaimer?? I knew some knucklehead might lump him in with VG!!!
OSU's Thaddeus Gibson is also an nice looking 3-4 prospect. Gibson's bounced around from linebacker to end over his career and he's been very productive. Jet fans are going to question each and every 3-4 OLB and Ohio State player we bring in because of Gholston and Schlegel. It shouldn't be that way, but they'll always question it. You're damn right about him flying up boards - he was helped out a lot by Carlos Dunlap's stupidity. I think we'll be in a perfect spot to draft Heyward though because Dunlap's combine numbers should be ridiculous. Heyward should go in between 12-18.
That could be one of the conditions. I believe O'Connell has only made the regular squad once vs NE week 2.
I saw Heyward in one game this year. After 3 snaps, I couldn't stop watching him. You may not have a dog in this fight, but he has a fighting dog inside of him. Ryan may look at this kid, and have to give Douglas a hug and say goodbye to one of his old Raven DEs. Cameron would be the exact type of player that Ryan would love next to whoever is playing NT next year. Let it be Jenks or another guy. I will spend a lot of time after the NFL season dissecting Robinson vs Cody, but can you geniuses give me a cheat sheet? I know size and strength, but there is always more than that. I like the whole mock. Has an 06 feel to it.
