Quinn is in Cleveland. That answers everything you asked. Clausen is head and shoulders above Quinn as a prospect anyway.
They got to a bowl game. And JaBust Russell beat them up. Him and Jeff Samardzija lit people up. He's a game manager. but no one can manage shit in Cleveland. He'd be like a really good Trent Dilfer on a good team. Making him worth the 22nd overall pick. He has no shot in Cleveland. clausen can save a franchise if done correctly. But his arrogance is a slight concern.
Clausen's had his moments, but with all the hype and fanfare when he was recruited, his actual production just looked "meh" on Saturdays for the most part. I expected more. I can't see him getting picked up in the first round this year, but then again, I'm no GM either
Did you see him this year? He was the reason why the Irish had any chance in any game this year. His defense handed late leads to every team they faced. The kid can't win them all with a minute left in the 4th every Saturday. His stats this year are right on target for a 1st round pick. Our resident draftniks have him going top 5. He had no OL for two seasons. This year he had a marginal OL, and he lit everyone up. Golden Tate would be the kind of WR that this fanbase gets a hard on over. Quiet, hard working, consistent player. He's a 2nd round pick with a great combine.
I'll take ur word for it. I never really paid attention to Irish football. I do remember ESPN showing blooper reels week after week of Brady Quinn throwing picks, bobbling hand-offs, etc.

mick is pretty spot on. clausen played very very well this year. i think tate could go in the first when it comes down to it. he was just so damn explosive. i thought he was a little too cocky early this year always talking to someone after making a play but they corrected that toward the end of the year. you cant go wrong with a kid like tate. toddisgod i think you and rowonejetfan should be put in a cage together for a week. this exact thread was created last week or the week before.
top 5 overall, or top 5 QB? I can believe the latter, but I'm surprised if its the former. I'll take your word for his play as I assume you've probably been watching every game this year. I've been flipping back and forth for the most part, I guess I just never flipped to ND games during all of his "wow" moments. I do agree about Tate though, the guy looks like a stud
haha there is a youtube video of it. he wasn't good until his last season in ND. That year he had 34 TDs and 7 INTs. It was a fun year. the last big winning season the Irish had. This season should have been the same.
Believe it or not overall. Its interesting how the big names that stayed in school are now 2nd tier to Clausen and Mallet this year. I'll take the risk and say Clausen will be invited to the draft. I had to go to work every saturday at halftime. So i'd leave home when they were winning, and then when i left work i'd find out the lost in hearbreaking fashion. it was a shitty november for me. Jets/Irish/Rangers. Fuck.
As good as Claussen's receivers are, many of the throws that Claussen makes are pro-level. When he's on, Claussen makes some great throws into tight spots. Although he does get his stats padded every once in a while when he dumps the ball off to Tate, who takes it to the house. Claussen is going top 5. Back on topic. Don't fire Schottenheimer
Without reading the entire thread, I'm sure it's probably inundated with the usual suspects (i.e., Martz, Billick, Weis...etc.). I got a name off the beaten path for everybody, Jeremy Bates. Bates began his career working with the Buccaneers offense in 2002 that won the Super Bowl. At 32 he was promoted to assistant quarterbacks coach for the Buccaneers in 2004 where he helped Brian Griese lead the NFL in completion percentage (69.3) in 2004 and set Buccaneers single-season records in that category along with passer rating (97.5) and yards per passing attempt (7.83). In 2005, he was our QB coach. That is the year we had 5 different starters due to injury. Brooks Bollinger posted an 87.7 passer rating that year. If he can help Bollinger look like a NFL QB imagine what he can do w/ Sanchez. From 2006-2008 he was the Broncos QB/WR coach under Shanahan. He worked with Cutler and Marshall from their rookie year through last year. We all know what kind of numbers those 2 put up during that time. He is now the offensive cordinator for USC working with their freshman starting QB. This guy is young, worked 3 years under some great offensive minds (i.e., Gruden and Shanahan), has a proven track record, has a Jets and USC connection a la Sanchez and definitely attainable.
I think that Kubiak would be our best option if he gets the boot in Houston. He did a great job with Steve Young and John Elway and none of the other options (Callahan, Zorn, etc.) has a better OC resume than Kubiak. Problem is, if he gets fired and Shanahan comes back as a HC, Shananhan might want him on his sideline.
I know I had my little post about outside possibilities for the OC job but the next OC is going to be promoted internally. I've got my money on Cavanaugh since he has been working closely with Sanchez since they both arrived. I think I hear Sanchez mention Cavanaugh in his press conferences more than any other coach aside from Rex. He will tailor the system to fit a young QB and let him grow in it. Callahan has a good shot. He helped build this OLine to what it has become and he knows the running backs and the blocking system very well. You want a solid running game to help take the pressure off of a young QB and this team is not exactly sitting on a shaky foundation with Jones, Greene, and Washington(please be healthy enough to go next year) in the backfield.
