Fired: Al Groh (UVA) Mark Snyder (Marshall) Steve Kragthorpe (Louisville) JD Brookhart (Akron) Chris Hatcher (Georgia Southern) replaced by Jeff Monken (ST coach at Ga.Tech) Mike Sanford (UNLV) Dick Tomey (San Jose State) James Webster (Tenn. State) Tommy West (Memphis) replaced by Larry Porter (Asst. HC and RB coach @ LSU) David Elson (WKU) Charlie Weis (Notre Dame) Charlie Weatherbie (ULM) is said to be on his way out. My guesses on the next few days: Charlie Weis is fired Pete Richardson of Southern University is fired Rich Brooks of Kentucky fired. Paul Wulff of Washington State fired. Mangino with Kansas fired. I hear a lot about Les Miles being on the hotseat.... especially after the Ole Miss game Bobby Bowden says he wants to come back, hopefully, for the sake of college football, FSU officials tell him to resign.
ive been a die hard Noles fan since the Charlie Ward era and yes I completely agree. Bobby Bowden is just a name now. They needs someone whos gonna take the program back by the balls and affirm there presence by doing things aside from having a statue of yourself outside the stadium. we need a more active recruiting HC too. this is simply the worst defense ive seen us field in a long time. absolutely sickening. and the season was officially in the shitter when Ponder went down. he was quietly having one of the more impressive years in the country. that being said your not number 2 all time for nothing. but its literally just time to move on.
Some folks here are calling for Nutts head for losing to State. I doubt they'll axe him, but Rebel fans are just like Jets fans when it comes to coach loyalty. Sanford out at UNLV does not surprise me in the least bit.
Weis out is a done deal now according to the Daily News. I could see Bowden saying tomorrow that he's coming back for one final victory lap season next year.
Well I'm in a good mood because my ban got lifted early. But onto the subject of Miles, he will probably not get fired but Garry Crowton is most certainly gone, at least to simply appease the fans, Jeffersons poor play was part of it and we had some injuries down the stretch but LSU had far to much talent to play as poorly as we did on offense. Part of it has to do with play calling predictability
Updated to reflect Weis. I wonder if Tommy Tubberville will be making his return to coaching. Possibly take the Virginia job?
Tubs to UVa? If they secure that the conference just +1'ed. IMO SEC/ACC tend to go back and forth between most stacked conference, lately SEC moreso due to the downfall of UVa, Miami and FSU. That'd be two OM priors in the ACC. Tubs and Cut. Duke and UVa. Want.
I don't know if Tubby is actually a candidate for UVA, or any other job for that matter, but he should be. I still think he got a raw deal at Auburn, and he's one of my favorite coaches.
Thank You Sorry I was not more specific I was talking about our offensive season as a whole in the latter part. But the Ole Miss loss was totally on Miles, but we have had offensive struggles for the entire year even before the Ole Miss game
Lance Thompson, the LB coach at Tennessee is a leading candidate for the HC job at Marshall, according to a source of mine close to the UCF football program. (Lance used to be the DC at UCF). That's a terrible decision, by Marshall, if true.
Kelly won't talk until after the Bowl games, I imagine. And Mr. E is right, I heard the Notre Dame AD, Jack Swarbrick, contacted Stoops, asking what his price was. Of course Swarbrick denies the claim.
Stoops is staying at OU... http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsext...ectid=92&articleid=20091130_92_0_NORMAN161721 I think Kelly gets the job and makes the Irish a national power again.
No GOOD coach would tell his team he's leaving them before the season is over. Big Game Bob might decide to go to Notre Dame when the season's done.
