not that I cheer on "injuries".....but that was a nice lick he put on D.Williams.......he was "Eric Smith'd" sorta speak.
ive been impressed with him all day, was about to make an appreciation thread, hes been all over the field with some real nice hits
eric smith 7 tackles 2 for loss... 1 pass deflected and lit a fire under rhodes ass and forced him to INT a ball... Keep smith in the lineup.
he has been all over the field making big hits.. love seeing a safety come up with tackles for loss.. he's having a great game.. he also seems to have taken a role leading the defense.. has been calling out coverages and directing ppl all game.. really like his play thus far..
Eric Smith vs Kerry Rhodes.... So guys... who had the better game and who should be starting next week (barring how well they train this week)? E. Smith had 8 or 9 tackles leading the Jets while Rhodes had 2 INTs but no tackles... I think Smith played the better game but if you don't put in Rhodes after a 2 INT game you might kill his momentum in coming back as a valuable starter (in the future). I'd let Smith for the majority of the plays but make Rhodes start. Give 60% plays to Smith and 40% to Rhodes... PS this would also keep Rhodes trade value up should we want to do that...
INTs get all the glory but Eric Smith played really well today. I think Smith still had the better game.
i think rhodes will probably start.. but there will definitely be more of a rotation between the two.. actually.. maybe smith does start next week.. he is showing to be a better every-down safety.. and maybe kerry just becomes that pass down ball hawk.. it would be a great position for kerry.. like someone said above me.. INT get all the glory and thats all he wants.. bring him in on pass downs when you need an extra DB.. and let him play.. either way next week we are going to start a really good safety..
I think a Pop Warner kid could have had that last INT that Rhodes picked off...that was a horrendous throw. I like how hard Smith played, and he didn't cost us any big plays. He was hitting like he wanted to keep that job. By the way, WTF does Bart Scott do out there??
Loved how Eric Smith played. Made solid tackles and was good in coverage. Rhodes didn't make any mistakes today, but then again, he never really had to make a 1-on-1 tackle. I'm hoping he becomes aggressive again after this game.
