Yea, he's a junior this season. He's a giant - 6'8 285. Our other defensive end, Cliff Matthews, is a fucking animal off the edge. He'll be the guy that fills Eric Norwood's shoes.
Yea I've met his brother, Kwame, and cousin Jarvis. They bring a new meaning to big family. I knew Clifton had some issues over the last year, hope he can stay out of trouble for next season.
Any relation to Jumpy? I know he is from South Carolina.... his kid Jeremy (also a DE) played here for a few years but for some reason left school a year early and never made it. Kid got some bad....very bad advice.
Jumpy is his uncle. Good Football bloodline. Clifton's brother Kwame is a UGA bulldog, Jumpy's son Jarvis JUCO'd and now plays for UCF. Jarvis is 9th in the nation in sacks.
Wow... and they all play Dline? Still wondering how Jeremy ended up at UNLV. I know he was in camp with New Orleans a few years ago but he just wasn't cut out for the NFL. he was a very good DL for my Rebels though. Was sad to see him leave early.
Kwame, I think, is OL. He's something like 6'6 and 300+. Kwame was recruited heavily by Tennessee, UGA, and UCF. He verbal'd to UCF and changed to UGA on signing day.
Dam... can't stand those guys that back out of a verbal at the last minute. You have to think how much money or what the other team threw at him to make him change last minute.
Gerhart carrying the team once again, now PASSES for a TD. Now all of you ND fans are getting to see what I've seen all season. We have absolutely NO defense, and we're still 7-4 and in this game.
In this case, I think Kwame was having a tough time with his choice. His cousin is saying, come play down in FL. his parents saying, SEC > CUSA. Can't blame him, just wish he didnt sway. Gerhart deserves the Heisman, tonight was the first time I got to see him play a full game. He reminds me of the Bus, honestly. Bruising tank of a runner.
Sadly, I still think it goes to McCoy. What's sad about that? Gerhart has faced 4 teams in the Top 30 in rushing defense. The best passing defense McCoy has faced is the one he sees on the practice field. The best one he's seen in a game situation? Oklahoma, ranked #33 nationally against the pass.
It's a no brainer that Gerhart should win... He absolutely carried Stanford. Honestly though my top 5 would be Spiller, Gerhart, McCoy, Kellen Moore and Ingram. Although I think Clausen and Andy Dalton have had great seasons and should not be overlooked. I hate all these rules that go along with it now. The night Eric Crouch won, the Heisman died and any credibilty it had.
Wow. I don't watch much college football, but holy shit Toby Gerhart looks awesome. And I don't just mean that because he's a WHITE running back. Okay, maybe I do.
Gerhart has really looked great all year. If he were in the SEC and put up the same numbers then he'd be a heavy favorite for the Heisman. Unfortunately for him, he's not. It will probably end up being a popularity contest and the trophy will go to McCoy, Tebow or Ingram.
I have a problem with a Heisman winning running back only managing 18 yards on the ground in a game. Plus, even if you add in his return stats, he has 16 TDs on the year. Gerhart has 27, and nearly double the rushing yards. The biggest thing, though, is that he's simply carried his football team. Stanford is 8 -4 with the 60th ranked passing offense, 66th ranked rushing defense, and 97th ranked passing defense in the nation in Sagarin's highest rated conference. That's right, Sagarin's rankings have the Pac 10 over the vaunted SEC. He has put this team in position to win 11 of its 12 games, with 2 games lost by the defense on the final possession, and 1 game lost when he carried them into the red zone and watched Luck throw an interception. NO ONE has been better this season and meant more to his team than Gerhart.
I know CJ Spiller returned the opening kickoff against us yesterday, but he didn't do anything after that. USC's defense destroyed his Heisman chances. If I had a vote, I'd pick Toby Gerhart. He carries his team. Out of Colt McCoy and Timmy Tebow - I want Tebow to win it, by far. I hate Colt McCoy.
I know Spiller won't win it, it probably will be McCoy. IMO, Spiller is the most NFL ready player of all of the above. The Heisman has nothing to do about the NFL.
