Smith isn't a better route runner than andre johnson. This is a game that the Jets should be able to tee off on delhomme since he has one target. I can see Jake INT Delhomme throwing 2 picks if the jets can get a 10 pt lead.
why?i think it's the opposite.smith is quick but revis won't be giving up the height he's give up to moss/johnson/owens.
Delhomme couldn't hit the "red side of a barn" this year with his passing...and as a result, Smith has been a total afterthought. Revis should lock him down with no problem. My main concern is stopping Stewart/Williams without big Jenks in the middle of our Dline. We saw what MJD did to us two weeks ago.....this week will be an even tougher task for the Run D to handle.
He's 29th in the league in receiving yards and has only 4 TD catches. This is no way his toughest matchup. Andre and Moss are both top 5 and we saw what he did to them.
It has less to do with how good Steve Smith and more to do with how bad dellhome is. I can see Revis getting 1 or 2 picks and Smith getting 5 rec for 49 yrds
Randy moss is every bit as fast as steve smith, hes also taller and revis shut his shit down. Steve smith will be smothered by revis this week. The tedd ginn TD was BS, revis let him go to kerry rhodes, he thought he had help over the top.
i stress the quote cause they have 2 RB's i wanted on the Jets. I was one of the bigger proponents of drafting DeAngelo Williams, been on this kids bandwaggon since I saw him in person when he played for Memphis, carve USF up to the tune of 265 yards and 4 tds on something ridiculous like 20 carries or less. and Stewart speaks for himself.
I would be willing to bet its harder to cover a smaller guy like Smith rather than a giant like TO, Moss, and Johnson. Anyone who has ever played a contact sport (football, hockey, etc.) knows that those little mother fuckers are the biggest pains in the ass. But what the hell do I know.
Smith is insanely quick... I bet it's much easier to guard the taller slower guys than the small shifty quick ones, and Smith is one of the best in that dept.
And Smith goes in the middle unlike a Moss, and an Owens really. Coverage's might be different if Smith is doing a lot of crossing routes. It is true however, it's gonna be hard enough for Smith to get open, let alone Delhomme being accurate.
If Smith had a decent Quarterback throwing the ball to him, I could easily agree with you. Delhomme has made their offense below average, despite having game breaking players like Smith and DeAngelo. Revis wins this matchup because of Delhomme. If Smith has a decent QB, Smith has a much better chance.
Revis has already faced Andre Johnson, TO, Randy Moss x2, and Colston. He's had no problems with any of them. I'm not too worried about Revis vs. Smith.
