Sorry but I have to give this its on thread. (playcalling)

First time in the game we have a bit of a drive going we just have gotten on the board. 3 and 2 and we put Sanchez out wide, run the option with Brad Smith. Horrible play calll worse execution. What was everyones reaction on this play call, did anyone like it.
How can you finally put the kid in a down and distance that the whole field is at his disposal and you line him up wide? I think there needs to be a rule if you are gonn ask your "franchise" QB to move to reciever or take the bench on 3rd down you better be successful about 90% of time otherwise its bullshit and the failure of the play to work not only kills the drive but kills your QB's confidence.

If you must create a thread for every thought that pops into your head, please use a meaningful thread title.

There will be bad play calls in EVERY game. Schottenheimer called a good game overall, Sanchez just made poor throws or in some cases poor decisions. It happens- especially w/ a rookie.

I'm setting the number at 6 as the over/under for the amount of threads this dude creates until kickoff next Sunday.

just asked on another thread if anyone thought our recievers were to close together. Glad its not just me seeing this, I believe lots of Chads picks were in the same situation.

One other thing about this, I know it would be a luxury to have two pass catching TE's, but is there another team in the league that has a second TE with fewer catches then our guys???? When you dont have a backfield recieving option and not a second TE who can block then go out into the route it makes it tough on QB.

He's be an upgrade, but I think there was a reason the Pats didn't have an OC this year.

    I don't understand this.

If yer gonna be a franchise QB in the NFL - or any QB in the NFL - you had better know/like operating out of the shotgun.

no he didn't.. the most important plays in a drive are first down and third down (unless your in four down territory of course).. and it was awful.. we need to run the ball on first down.. we cant put ourselves in a position where we have an incompletion on first.. then HAVE to run on second down ( just more predictability from schotty) and then put sanchez in a 3rd and long..

and what about the bullshit 3rd and 2 QB option play.. are you serious.. i didn't think that we were that kind of offense.. we don't need gimmicks to gain yards.. we have a good team.. use them..

I am sick of schotty calling bullshit gimmick plays to try and show off his "creativeness".. he is just making things way too hard for this offense.. he is not utilizing the weapons we have properly.. can anyone answer why the fuck we don't do RB screens?? like we have a rookie QB.. get blitzed all the time.. and yet we have yet to establish any sort of screen play into our offense..

To be completely honest, i think they are trying to simplify the offense to only one side of the field early in games. This is why sanchez hes been staring down receivers, because hes supposed to be looking to that side on the play.

Then when the jets go down they give him options and the entire field and he prospers, why they dont put him back there in shotgun or even a 3-wide set and spread the field is beyond me.

We have the run game to support the kid, no need to simplify the passes to jamarcus russell level comprehension. LET HIM PLAY.

Jets had one of their best offensive seasons in franchise history with Weis as OC. I'd support him being hired.

Watching the game last night, I and many others were struck by how predictable the Jets were on first down. Looking inside the numbers proves that this was not a misconception.

The Jets ran 23 first down plays. 15 of them were runs.

Throw out the last two first-down plays, when the Jets had the ball with just seconds to play and anything other than a pass would have been ridiculous, and you are really looking at a 15-6 ratio in terms of run-pass on first down.

Most disappointing is the fact that the plays weren't doing much at all. Those 15 runs netted 76 yards, which looks good, but the figures were bloated by runs of 11, 10, and 15 in the second half when the Jets were already in a big hole and the Pats were probably leaning towards the pass. The first-half first-down runs, six of them, combined for just 19 yards.

Sanchez attempted just two passes on first down in the entire first half and only four in the second half before those last two must-pass plays in the last 16 seconds.

You can read too much into the numbers, but this looks like a predictable offense to me, and one that didn't ask anywhere near enough of the Patriots' defense.

I agree, it was so frustrating to watch, almost every first down was Jones falling for 3 yards.
