BTW to be clear, I like Stafford. But I will back Jet players first. I think they both will be great players for years to come.

Can we expect him to jump in there and be average. Cause I would settle for average QB play at this point.

I don't know, the numbers seem pretty comparable to me.They seem like typical rookie QB numbers. They both have had there good games and bad games just as every other rookie QB before them. Maybe it would be a good idea to wait a season or two before the final determination is made.

I still stand by my earlier statements though. I thought Sanchez was the best QB in the draft and I haven't seen anything this year to make me change my opinion.

The numbers are similar with Stafford having the edge yet playing on a much worse team and missing two games. Also, its true Johnson makes great catches, but how many times have Jets WR's adjusted to make catches this year? Most of the time.

I admit I am just super frustrated with Sanchez right now, but you have to be a leader. To me he just looks like a baby and it is depressing.

Their numbers are comparable. Except that one guy is on a team that went 0-16 last season and one guy is on a team that was 9-7. Both QBs have made a difference to their teams in opposite ways.

Might not have started him this year, might have sat him at least some series but wouldn't want to trade him.

What exactly does last year have to do with this year? This year they are both on bad teams and have both had there ups and downs throughout the season, just as most rookies QBs do.

Neither one has distinguished themselves as the clear cut better choice or prospects. If anything they have both shown that they have bright futures in this league.

I think Stafford would be doing better than Sanchez with this team around him, so I think Stafford is better.

DING DING DING!!! Calvin Johnson managed to become the 2nd pick in the draft after Reggie Ball was his college QB. Reggie Fuckin' Ball. The man is an insane talent, and I have no doubt that if he was on the Jets, we'd have more wins as well (CJ, not that asshair that masqueraded as a college QB Reggie Ball).

But you just can't compare QBs in their first year. If this was an Eli Manning/Philip Rivers thread, fine, now is the time to evaluate how that draft went, but Stafford v. Sanchez, gimmie a break

Its perfectly legitimate to compare them after 10 games. This is a results oriented business. Who is performing better than the other? Not exactly a taboo topic. Its a perfectly reasonable question to be asking.

Stafford appears to be a little better at this juncture. he is also injured which favors Sanchez. Sanchez obviously has some excellent skills and he also obviously has a long way to go to improve. Same for Stafford. I think alot will come down to how hard these guys are willing to work to improve themselves. I am hopeful that Sanchez will turn out to be a good QB. But he isn't there at this point in his career.

How has Sanchez showed us he has a bright future?

To compare us to Lions is laughable. We have an above average running game, O line, and defense to aid him. They have a below average everything except maybe WR. Its like saying Matt Cassel should be as good on the Chiefs as he was on the Pats. Qb's need some help to succeed.

Sanchez has a lot of luxeries that Stafford does not have and he is still playing like a flounder.

Stafford has a better arm, better accuracy, more guts, and is an unquestioned leader that the rest of his team loves and respects. He's also got a much harder job because the team around him is pretty bad, especially defensively.

I like Sanchez though. But Stafford is just a better player. It's like comparing Peyton Manning to say Carson Palmer. It's not that Palmer is a bad QB, actually he is a very good one, just Peyton is better.

Now, it's still early. Stafford could fail, and Sanchez could become one of the best QBs of all time. But just from analyzing the two right now and as prospects, Stafford was the better one and is right now too, and that's why he went #1 overall, even going to a team that usually won't look at a QB and would rather take a WR.

But again, you aren't in a terrible position if you have a Carson Palmer even if you don't have a Peyton Manning. You'd rather have Peyton, but you don't always get what you want. Hopefully Sanchez starts developing some more and the Jets finish strong. Playoffs aren't really that important this year although it'd be great to get in so he can get the playoff exp, but I'm just hoping he starts to get in a zone out there is all.

That may be....but you're overlooking one of the biggest advantages Stafford has over Sanchez.....and that's 3 years experience as a starter in college....compared to Sanchez's 1 season.

    Experience is a huge factor.

That's why i say comparing them right now is ridiculous......apples & oranges, folks.

Sanchez "literally" needs more time to develop his skillset at this level.

Two different teams, two different offenses, playing different conferences, different opponents, playing a total of 18 games combined. Yet we continue to try to match them up in terms of ability. I am just now realizing this is a lost argument.

Yep... Definitely garbage. Plus, that team went to the playoffs that season. Proof that rookie QBs can struggle even though their teams are good.

He has shown flashes of greatness, that is all you can expect from a rookie QB. He has been terrible in 3 of the 10 games he has played this year and has been good enough to win in the other 7.

The talent on this Jets team is completely overrated, we are not a very good team and have lost our two best players to injuries.

Sanchez has cost us 2.5 games
Defense has cost us 2.5 games
ST has cost us 1 game.

This season is not just on the rookie QB, there are many factors why we are having a losing season so far.
