One could argue that at least by sitting a couple of games he could understand what game we are playing... before throwing him to the Wolves...
Disagree about the LBs-- I think we have a very good LB (Harris), 2 average (Scott/Pace) and a below avg LB (Thomas) and a pretty good scheme. Game Speed, coverage, and pass-rushing of our OLBs is very weak.
Our defensive talent is completely overrated without Jenkins. The OLine has regressed from last year, Faneca has been terrible and needs to be replaced next year. Our Wrs are average, Cotch is the only reliable WR we have. I'm beginning to think we may be better off giving Edwards a first round tender and hope someone bites. The guy is way to unreliable to be a top WR, shame too because he is so damn talented. Outside of Harris we are ordinary at best at LB, Scott has been mostly invisible since week 3. Pace has been invisible his entire shortened season and Thomas his whole career, nevermind Gholston. We desperately need someone next year who can consistently rush the passer. This is not a talented team right now, we have some pieces to build with but we need more.
He has been up and down. He is a QB who played mostly in hot weather climates and is now making the transition in playing more than 75% of his games in cold weather conditions while learning the playbook on the run. You need to give him 1-2 years to really find a groove and to find success.

While I agree the team is definitely overrated, that does not hide the fact that this thread is about our QB. A good QB can make it happen with waht he is given. TGG response- He is a rookie. The rest of the team isn't the reason he throws most of these INT's. TGG response- Edwards wasn't looking. My point is, he is not making the strides he should be nearly 3 quarters through the season. TGG response- He looked good in weeks 1-3 and the Miami game. My response- That was 5 weeks ago. What has he done lately? Besides throw quite a few INT's. I love the guy and hope he is great for us. He just needs a time out. There is no formula to know when to pull him, I understand that, but he needs to be able to watch from the sidelines when he makes these mistakes. The bottom line is W's. Especially when it comes to selling tickets and merchandise.
The D and/or Sts have been repsonsible for as many losses as Sanchez has. The D has taken a major nosedive since losing Jenkins. This is not a very taklented team.
I can understand the argument of each view. Like I said, there's no formula for this; it depends on that individual player, along with some other variables. In this, Mark Sanchez's, case, I don't see how a guy who doesn't possess enough game experience improves/learns by sitting and watching without getting game experience.
You claimed that a QB couldn't learn and develop into a great NFL QB by charting plays from the sidelines during his rookie year. That is false. There are many many many examples of great NFL QBs who didn't start during their rookie season. Joe Montana is obviously one such example. Rookies don't have to start every game of the seaonson in order to develop and in fact there are many smart football people who would argue that starting a rookie QB for an entire season is a bad idea. We are seeing that Sanchez is continuing to play poorly. Perhaps he would have been better off in terms of his development if he hadn't been forced into the starter's role immediately. You seem to think that throwing him out there to start every game is the only way to go. I am suggesting that you should be a bit less narrow minded and consider the fact that he may have developed really well by not starting every game of the season.
I think we have the talent but we can NEVER play a complete game. We haven't played a complete game since no joke week 1. If our D isn't playing like shit its the offense if it ain't the O it's STs. To me that is on the coaching staff
HORSE MANURE. The biggest talent problem on this team is the Rookie QB who just gift wrapped yet another game to the opposition. Trashing the rest of the team in a pathetic attempt to make up excuses for Sanchez is assinine.
Except its tough to do it in a city like NY where media speculation will arise and it will get into Sanchez's head one way or the other along with the rest of the team as far as who leads this team every Sunday. Mark could channel the talks out but when you compare this to less known cities, its tough to do. It would bring unnecessary coverage if you make the change of QBs. Once you made Mark the starter on opening day, you have to stick with him. For the team's sake and for the QB's sake. Any time you are showing mixed feelings for the QB would mean you may or may not have a real direction for this years squad and are just leaving the other teammates wondering who is going to get the snaps at QB.
what did we sign him for, 5 or 6 years? so he'll certainly have those 1-2 years to show us what he is capable of.
There has been maybe 1 game where Sanchez cost us a win and it could arguably be that Buffalo game. Thats it. This game falls on the secondary's inability to cover Welker, the inconsistencies of the O-Line and the D's inability to stop Maroney and the run from converting 1st downs.
You can't just sit Sanchez down. That would send the message that we are giving up on him and the season. You can slice it any way, he needs to watch from the sidelines, he needs to clear his head...but even if this talk seriously starts in the media he's going to start playing scared to lose his job. After he's benched, when he does get back in he'll play like he's afraid to lose his job. Sanchez, as has been said, is a ROOKIE quarterback who has played, now, in college and the pros, 26 games? He makes some pretty unbelievable throws, and he also makes some pretty crappy ones. We're all looking for consistency and it's not there right now. Sometimes he makes mind-boggling under/over throws and bad decisions (such as throwing it to a Pats defender 3 yards from the sideline...psst...the bench is right there!). But we gotta give him time to really settle in. Sitting him will only compound the issue.
Yes thats it blame the D. You have a QB who is throwing multiple INTs and Pick Sixes and you want to blame the D.:rofl::rofl::rofl:
Good Post!! Where has our defense been the 1st half the past 2 games??? To blame Sanchez for our problems is nuts. If the fucking defense wasn't asleep, Sanchez wouldn't have to play catch up. Sanchez is our QB for a long time....get over it people and move on.
Sanchez blew horse nuts today. The 4th pick was a travesty. He had all day to throw that away. In fact, the Jets need to teach this douche the "throw away" drill. Let him spend an entire day throwing the ball out of bounds so he gets the point. It would save our team alot of headaches. One other thing. On these bailout plays, where;s the outlet man? A RB? a Tight end? Are they all sprinting 30 yds downfield? Is this how our plays are designed or is Sanchez that clueless?
You are either blind with hatred for Sanchez or just not watching the games. The D and Sts have cost us as many games as our rookie QB has. Where is the talent on this team? The Dline is nothing without Jenkins, besides Harris which LB makes any impact at all? Same can be said for the secondary minus Revis? The D has taken a nosedive since there strong start.
he turned the ball over 4 times...5 with the strip fumble? One pick six int. That puts the team in quite a hole my friend.
