You missed the entire point of the movie Ryan.

They are rebooting the franchise, making huge changes. This changes everything that happens. As far as the timeline is concerned, Star Trek(original series), TNG, Voyager and DSN never/wont happen(ed). This movie eliminates all of that.

Everything from here on out is part of a new timeline.

I don't like that we have to wait till 2011/2012 for a new movie. They are really dropping the ball with the long layoff. They needed to start shooting already or begin in the new year. As it stands now, there is no script and no timeline for filming. They are just pre-casting people to be prepared for when the script drops.

No! You missed the entire point of the movie IATA.

Thats what is so great about this movie. All of the other Star Trek stuff DID happen in this universe in a different time. Thus, the two Spocks etc. I think that was a great idea.

Holy shit - I hate this movie even more now because you like it.

I'm just fucking with you 2K09 (kind of)...but really, I thought the movie was ridiculously overrated.

I know this movie isn't for everybody - it definitely wasn't for me. I can see how people enjoyed it. Star Trek was definitely an action packed movie, but the plot was garbage.

My problem is this: 2009 had better films to offer, and no one talks about them. The Hurt Locker and Moon were two of the better movies that I've seen in a long time - these lower budget movies get overlooked because some bullshit CGI makes it seem like shit gets blown up in space.

No, it didn't happen. Spock traveled in time, to before anything I mentioned happens. As far as history(future?) is concerned, none of the shit will happen.

Spock in the original reality, was in Cpt. Pikes crew for 11 years. In the movie, Spock serves with Pike for what? A few hours? Kirk becomes Captain immediatly.

In the original reality, Spock leaves Starfleet and returns home to Vulcan. Well, now there is no Vulcan to return to.

In TNG, Spock spends several episodes spanning the entire series trying to reunite Vulcan and Romulus. Well, now there is no Vulcan to reunite.

There are numourous other incidents, which I'll save for another time. Regardless, the conclusion is the same:

    The entire history has changed.

Don't fuck with a Star Trek nerd NYJ.

No, my point is it all existed in a different time. You have to treat this new crew completely different because everything has changed, but all of the tv shows and movies still took place in different times. That is awesome to me.

But as far as the Star Trek universe is concerned, it didn't happen and wont happen. Spock came back in time, he changed history. Spock met Kirk, he changed history even more. Spock met Spock, he changed it again.

All of the Movies/television/whatnot happened to 1 person: Old Spock. Young Spock will never experience any of it.

Whatever tho. I get your point, you're talking in the sense of fans, all that shit happened. Movieverse wise, none of it did.

Let's not squabble over this, and just agree that we are both right(I'm more right tho ;) )

If you went into this movie expecting to find a masterpiece of writing, you went into the wrong movie. JJ Abrams has a history of writing dumb things, but making them look good.

I didn't like MOON at all, but it was a better written flick. The Hurt Locker was just awesome. Good good movie.

Yeah, now you see what I am saying. I think it was a great move though. Its a reboot which allows the past to still count in people's minds, yet does not have to follow it at all in sequels. Very cool. This quote sums up what I have been saying: "James T Kirk was a great man, but that was another life."

If I'm going to spend my money on an overpriced movie ticket, I expect to see a damn good movie. With all of the hype it received, I expected it to be a lot better.

Sam Rockwell made Moon a great movie in my opinion. This guy's one of the better actors out there...and yes, The Hurt Locker was fucking awesome.

They took place in a different reality, not a different time. Those events never happened in Abram's reality. God, don't you know anything about alternate timelines?

You want Trekkie nerd? Look at this exchange I had with one of my coworkers on Facebook. I'm still confused about half of what he's saying...lol:

Him: Dont make me rant for 2 hours STRAIGHT about why that 'movie' (if we must call it something) was an attrocity towards humanity. They should be strung up and bluggoned for what they did. It was like rapeing puppies.

Me: You're the only one I know who did NOT like the Star Trek movie...lol

Him: Thats because eveyone else has been brainwashed. Star Trek is more then just "sci-fi" it is a philosophical declaration. It was the last bastion of a positive future. Everything star trek stood for was vomited out of the movie. And they couldn't even bother to keep continuity. Or do actual research before doing the moive. Its like they just woke up... Read More one night in a brewery after heavy drinking and male prostitution and said "hey, Im going to make a star trek moive here. because star trek is sci-fi and I will be damned if George Lucas gets all the money" They can drop dead. Can you explain to ME what an "external inertial dampaner" is cause I NEVER heard of one. And I will tell you why: because they dont exist. In fact I can go to my Owners Manual for the Enterpise-D and show you that they dont exsist. Or the blue prints because I have those. Maybe those *explitive removed* should get one. Red matter doesnt exsits. Its like they got their physics from the space behind the stall in a public truck stop restroom. They probably noticed it when bent over "fund raising" for the research expenses for the movie. And how many warpcores did that ship have when they ejected it? like 7.5. Let me tell you a secret. All starships. ALL STARSHIPS. Have 1. ONE. warp CORE (notice the singular form). Do you know why? because they are HUGE. and are 120% efficient and house 1 dilithiam chamber. Okay this was before they could regrow the *explitive deleted*. Do you have any idea how much Latinum that much dilithium would have been worth? Also, when a warp core explodes it wipes out everything with in a few thousand kilometers. I dont believe them. Not for one second. Dont get me started....

Me: Umm...Star Trek really isn't real. You know that, right? lol

Him: dont make me hurt you, You know what I mean. Let me go and make a star wars movie and add smurfs. Smurfs can exist with wookies right? They are strong in the force right? Who says smurfs cant live on Endore? Maybe the Death Star gets its energy from a supernova they keep in the janitors closet. Darth Vader just has asthma, and yoda can do a skydive from space on to cloud city.

Me: Yoda can do anything he wants :)

And that's pretty much where the conversation ended...lol. Seriously, the bolded parts above are really troubling that he knows this stuff. Fortunately he works in another department.

So if you ever thought you were a Trekkie before...

 That was hilarious. I am not a Trekker, but this movie makes me want to be one. It is really good. I haven't seen any other Star Trek movie though. For those who have seen them, what is the best to watch?
