Lets be honest here, aside from 1 sack Westerman hasnt doing anything either. Gholston was double teamed on a lot of plays while we had other guys putting pressure on the qb. You could however make the arguement that the ghost has much more playing time then Westerman.
i read one of the beat writers saying its more of Gholston's contract getting him on the field. Westerman does look like he's going to be something, but its tough to have him play with all that money tied up at the LB position. the Jets need to have that uncapped year, cut gholston, resign harris and let westerman play in a rotation with BT and Pace.
1. I am glad one of the nicknames I gave out actually stuck well with the player. It sucks that the Ghost couldn't prove me wrong. 2. I think it's 2nd year for the Ghost; still he has to win his starting job, which looks like he just never will. Thanks, Eric. Why don't you pick this cat up for Shaun Rogers? 3. He's going to be the first one to get cut, come uncapped year.
another worthless thread bump. How much must we go over the obvious. BTW, LOL at the poster who said he came up with the Ghost.
hahaha..no shit. there are guys in this league that are capable of 10+ sack seasons....but can't spell "cat". ekaarons fails again.
I can't really disagree with that. If Gholston wasn't getting paid a shit ton of money then theres almost no way he would see the field as much as he does. Rex talked Gholston up over the offseason and would look foolish if he wasn't on the field as much as he is. Hopefully we cut our losses and move on because this Gholston clown is clearly not good enough to be on an NFL roster. He has no fire. While Westerman hasn't done much yet, it looks like he has that fire and intensity that Gholston lacks. He made the team as an undrafted free agent so that might be saying something about how good this guy might really be.
I look forward to seeing Gholston in the UFL within the next two years. I feel like he will tear it up down there.
I dunno...a lot of people would tell you that he really didn't "tear it up" in college either. Just had a couple of good games against Michigan. My guess, if you suck, you're going to suck no matter where you are
The guy looked awful against backups in the preseason. I really don't see him doing well if he went to the UFL.
I think its pretty telling that you never even hear his teammates say anything positive about Gholston. I remember at least when Bryan Thomas couldn't get anywhere you were at least hearing guys saying "BT has all the skills, just has to put it all together . . ." Nothing but silence on Gholston. Odd.
Yeah because Westerman picking up a sack when he had an open lane to the QB speaks volumes of his talent.
i know you dont care too much for me but"I cant believe what I just read!" scik just admitted to a bad call on the ghost's game! i need to go and sit down for a while, and re-think all the thoughts that i previously thought about you. congrats to the mod position!
sitting behind BT, Pace, and Gholston. he won't see the field until his 3rd year. He's a UDFA who still needs time to develop in this league. When BT and Gholston are cut, and Pace is old, he'll be in his prime. And then the team can go find someone else to replace Pace at that point.
Wow. You must be one of the last standing still defending this asshat...nopt sure why though. It's more than just about sacks...Westerman is PLAYING...as in on the FIELD, while the Ghost sucks so much ass the Jets gotta come up with some bullshit excuse for him cuz he sucks so bad.
The fact we are comparing a UFA against a top 6 pick and people are criticising westerman even though he has outperformed VG sums up the non footballing entity that is Gholston. Will be up there with our worst picks ever , people trying to talk his game up this year are missing the point. Guy was meant to be a premier pass rusher not a 2 down at best lineman
What the fuck are you rambling on about? My post was with regard to Westerman and had nothing to do with Gholston. I like Westerman; I think he has a lot of potential, but claiming that he has been contributing on defense is just ridiculous. He's hardly even seen the field all year and has one tackle in the past 7 games.
