How do the mods expect us normal folk to not destroy idiots like this?......this has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever read on this board....including the TBJF chronicles.

At least D-Rob was a starter? What kind of rationale is that? It's not like he should have been a starter. The fact that he was on the field meant his crappy performance transferred to actual games. His presence on the Jets hurt the team while Gholston has just made himself irrelevant. Plus Slob cost 2 first rounders.

    That's the key right there.

Gholston is just a financial nightmare (along with his lack of production)....but D-Rob killed our draft.....losing those 2 first rounders was enough to send Jets fans to the nearest bridge.

To make the debacle worse, wasn't the rumor out of NE that supposedly the Pats wanted DRob and Bradway panicked and decided the only way to get him was to jump up in front of them?

Disagree here. D-slob was a worthy starter. He was a decent JAG player in Herm's system, who's deteriorating knee and clueless coach made him look worse than he was later on. He never justified his pay or draft position and will always be looked down upon for that, but he didn't suck.

Gholston, on the other hand, has shown himself to be complete garbage. A liability in all phases of the game and most likely not even worth a roster spot at the vet minimum. He'll end up going the way of Hobson and Schlegel, though I could see a 4-3 team taking a chance on him until they figure out what we already know.

please can't even put drob in the same sentence as the ghost. sure drob was a bust but at least the guy played at a somewhat decent level for a few years. the ghost is about as useful to the jets as i am.

Ok, I can see where you're coming from with regard to Slob but sometimes it's hard to remember the couple seasons of mediocrity he gave us before he became a human sack of potatoes.

At this point it's pretty much impossible to defend Gholston, but regardless of his disappointments, part of me wanted to see him get the chance to develop. I mean he was a solid stopgap for us in his first 3 starts in weeks 1,3, and 4 when our defense was playing its best. Honestly, judging from his performance there I didn't see him being a liability at all. Clearly a bust, but not complete garbage. At worst I think he would make a solid backup if his salary and reputation didn't kill any chance of that.

I too had a question of his efficacy in the first coupla games, and I've come upon the conclusion that the defense played well in spite of him, not because of him. I'm also thankful that the Voyeur came back just as teams had enough tape to really start exploiting his weaknesses. He averaged 2.3 tackles during his tenure as a starter with not much else. I distinctly remember a good number of those tackles being too far downfield for his position. I still don't see him in the league in 2011.

I hate Vernon Gholston more than any other Jet ever. I mean guys like Doug Brien and D-ROB pissed me off but at least they were trying (or at least looked like it). VG looks like the most unnmotivated person I've ever seen out there.
