We need teams like Chicago and Miami to win more games.

If the Bears keep crumbling, the Broncos will be in a very good position to draft a 3-4 player ahead of us.

Losing Ronnie Brown hurts the Fins a lot...

Terrence Cody is a need for all three teams. Whoever ends up with the highest pick will probably take him. The only other team I could see drafting Mount Cody is the KC Chiefs, and I don't know if they're willing to invest so much money into the defensive line.

Miami would be a lock for Cody!!! Denver probably would draft Cody, but could go another direction.

    Miami's Remaining schedule

IMO, pretty tough....Carolina is playing better/Tenn also.

17 Sun, Jan 3rd, 2010 Pittsburgh 01:00 PM Land Shark Stadium

    Chicago's Remaining Schedule (Denver's pick)

They may get 3/4 more wins. I expect Cutler to rebound.

Miami and Denver picking ahead of us means nothing. If anything, its just another reason for Tannenbaum to show why hes a kick ass GM who can get it done regardless of circumstance.

true, but with the depth in this draft I'd like to have someone like Cody fall to the Jets and not have to move around.

No, no trading up this year. Don't even put it in Tanny's head. We need all the picks we can get, and if Cody's gone when we pick, he should really consider dealing down and adding some picks. Perhaps instead of looking for another 2nd in a deal down though, he can get more bites by asking for lesser, but multiple picks.

But about the draft order, I was looking up the exact same thing today WW. Took me a while to find a site with the updated SOS.

better pray that we pick in the top 10 then.....if Cody lives up to his billing for the rest of the college season and performs well at the combine....he won't leave the top 10, IMO.

7-9 could net the Jets a 14 selection, which would make Cody the pick.

    14 was also Revis' slot.

    I want #14.

I want the pick...where we land Cody.......and we won't know that till next April.

Like Mr.E alluded to....the teams that utilize a 3-4 scheme are growing....and a stud NT is tough to find....there will be competition for this guy.

I don't want us to draft Cody... I mean, sure he would be a good pick but I want to trade down and take the best available DE at the bottom of rd 1, the BPA in rd 2 and then a NT in rd 3 or 4.

Right now we have 1,2,4,6 round picks. If by trading down we can add a 3 rounder (5 picks in total) I'd be happy to bring home 1 DE, 1 NT, 1 OT, 1 TE and 1 BPA in whatever order they come. I might not be opposed to signing a RB, an OLB, a CB or a slot WR if they are clearly the BPA.

I don't think Tanny has ever traded down in any of the drafts he's participated in....can someone verify this?

    hasn't traded down since 06.

I believe Clemens was a trade back.

maybe one other trade back happened that year too.

You are right/partly.......but we traded back up for Clemens too!

    It was a strange scenario.

The Jets trade back with Washington and then up with Dallas in the same round. I guess Tanny thought he got too cute and was going to miss out on Clemens by 4 picks.

I believe Tanny was afraid the Vikes (51st) were going to take Clemens, so he called Trader Bill in Dallas for help.

    2nd Rd 2006....Jets draft Clemens.

Redskins get: 3rd pick of 2nd round (selected RB Rocky McIntosh).
Jets get: 21st pick in 2nd round (53rd overall -- traded to Cowboys), 20th in 6th round (189 overall) in 2006 draft and a 2nd Rd pick in 2007. (IMO, a great trade)

    ^
The extra 2nd Rd pick helped Tanny trade up for Revis in 2007.

Jets get: 17th pick in 2nd round (49th overall, selected QB Kellen Clemens).
Cowboys get: 21st pick in 2nd round (53rd overall, selected TE Anthony Fasano), 20th in 6th round (189th overall) and 3rd pick in the seventh round (211th overall)

^ thanks for the explanation, dude.

I couldn't remember if Tanny ever traded back in his tenure here......good to know that he's "capable" if the the need should arise

    Thanks for the clarification.

i'd like to learn the science behind that kind of complex trading.

it seems easy on paper, but the negotiation process (yes, I said process ) and knowing what you have and what you can get is something that is learned by being in the FO.
