Wow. I thought I was a skeptic, but some of these replies are unbelievable. If you're so sure that the Jets have no chance to win this game then why even watch? This season has had its share of disappointment already, but sweeping the Pats would be very sweet regardless. We are playing this game for the opportunity to be one game off the lead in the AFC East. We have already beaten the pats once. We have repeatedly beaten ourselves. If the Jets avoid turnovers, RUN THE BALL, avoid stupid penalties and knock Brady on his ass repeatedly, then the Jets have a chance to win the game.
We need at least 24 points in this game. Run the ball is a sure way to lose unless we get a freaky big lead early due to turnovers or special teams.
Sanchez needs to play to not lose and we'll have a shot. He seems to do well when the O line holds up...I know shocking.
The Jets won their first three games, including beating NE. Why? The problem is not really the run to pass ratio, it's the number of interceptions. In the first three games, Sanchez threw only two ints, including none against NE. In the six games since, he has thrown 10. In short he has doubled the average number of ints per game, effectively throwing 1.66 per game. He had two just last week, and truth be told if Keller had not committed offensive pass interference, the Jags probably would have gotten a third. How many against Oakland? None. So unless one argues the Jets should run the ball more only to cut down on interceptions, that's not really what the problem is. But even on that argument, the logic doesn't hold up. The risk of ints is there on every pass play. The Jets cannot only run and win the game. Now it is true the Jets were able to run more in those three games. But, the logic of running more than passing is all well and good in theory, but the reality is you can only choose to throw less when you are ahead. If you are behind, especially by more than one score, you have to pass the ball. The way the Jet D has been playing, it is unrealistic to expect the team to rely much more on the run.
