Give Sanchez 2 or 3 years and he'll be a top 10 maybe top 5 QB. Theres no doubt in my mind hes gonna be great for years to come.
Yep, great post. I am no longer a Sanchez dark sider. So, he has some trouble throwing the ball away, no big deal, he'll be fine. It's all Schottenhiemer's fault anyway. He lets Sanchez throw, and on a team that leads the NFL in rushing attempts per game, that is just stupid. Like most rookie QB's, he's on a bad team with a bad O line. It isn't his fault the Jets can't win. Maybe if he had a running game and an O line, and a decent offensive coordinator who knows how to protect and develop a rookie QB, or at least a decent WR to throw to... we wouldn't even need threads like this one. This kid has HoF written all over him. Imagine how good he would be if he had a better RB than Jones to help him? Lights out. NFL Rookie of the year for sure, probably a pro bowl too. This guy has the whole package. He can run the whole playbook already. He checks down, and his reads are great. Then there is that rocket arm. He needs to take something off of the long throws though, he keeps over throwing the deep routes. It's the stinkin defense that keeps losing games. Good thing we fired the D line coach, that should help a lot. I'm on board. He's gonna torch dem lousy Pats in NE! :jets:ats_suck:
This place would implode if Sanchez was playing at all coming off a knee injury. I hope Stafford is ok, because the Lions are nuts to be running him out there with a bad wheel as you put it. That's how you lose your franchise QB before he's ever gotten to that level.
We should be at best 7 and 2. This kid has only killed us on one game, New Orleans in week 4. Every other game he has played, he has given us the opportunity to win. His numbers might not show it, but he has given us the lead in 7 games (like someone else has previously posted). It's not his fault that are defense cannot keep the lead for anything.
well for some reason this team finds itself in situations where the TD alone gives them a 1pt lead, and kicking the extra point doesn't do anything considering a FG can still beat them, so they go for 2 to make it a 3 pt game. Or they try for 2 to extend the lead when it doesn't need to be extended.
that game is won if the snap gets down. Fucking Weatherford. You know a team sucks when 5 INTs doesn't give them a lead until OT.
Meh, you can't coddle these guys. One, it makes him look like a pansy to the rest of the guys in the room if he's held out when it's obvious he can go. And two, it won't be the last time he'll have to play when he's not at 100%.
even with those 5 interceptions the jets win if that snap goes as planned. obviously the jets could have won in regulation if sanchez isn't throwing those picks, but they still had a chance to win it.
Throwing your rookie QB into the fire while he is injured is just the right recipe for crippling his development and throwing 41.7 million guaranteed dollars into the fire with him. Hopefully for Stafford he can get something out of it. Coddling is one thing. Allowing your franchise QB to become a constant injury risk is quite another.
He's obviously been cleared to play medically even if he's not at 100%. Ideally, they'd be able to wait until he is 100% before inserting him back in the lineup but that just isn't realistic. Do you honestly think Brady and/or Manning were at full strength when they started coming off of their respective knee injuries? The money thing works both ways. Why sit a guy when he's unquestionably the best player at the position, has been cleared, has practiced with no swelling and you're paying him over $40 million guaranteed?
The difference between the Brady/Manning situation and Stafford's is that Brady and Manning were both polished future HOF QBs that were masters of their craft before they got injured. Stafford is a rookie that is still trying to adjust to the speed of the game and learn his offensive playbook and perfect his mechanics and gain chemistry with his offense. Doing it while hobbled is just going to prolong his development and possibly cause him to develop bad habits like favoring his bad leg while passing, avoiding certain throws where he would have to lean too much on that leg, and quite probably hang his receivers out to dry with a needless blast over the middle when he throws high because of the knee. It's a dominoe effect when it comes to the QB.
It took 5 years for Eli Manning to get a super bowl! How long will it take for MArk to get the right ?
I think Leon is going to bounce back, but he may never be quite as explosive as he was when we first picked him up. Jenkins - I love the dude, he is easily already one of my favorite Jets. But I don't think Kris Jenkins will ever truly be healthy for the rest of his career. That's not to say I want the Jets to let him go. I think they need to keep him on and bring in depth to spell him regularly. But I will always be ready for his back to flare up or one of his knees to give out, because he is a mountain of a man playing a very violent game, and his size has been as much a detriment to him as it has been a benefit.
I agree That's one of the reasons I would love to see the Jets take Powe in the 2nd. Think they would work real well together. Give Jenkins plenty of down time, and not put a D's performance on a rookie NT
