with Jenkins gone its going to be on the kids shoulders to win games. It sucks, but the defense is now good enough to just keep the team in the game without winning it. It would also be nice to limit retarded turnovers like a 41 yard gain ruined by a WR with shitty ball security. Dogfight games all season. The Kid has given the Jets a lead in the 4th quarter, which shows he can be clutch. A new quality for Jets QBs. The defense however, has ruined any praise for Sanchez being a clutch QB, because they lose the lead as the game comes to an end. There is so much promise on the offensive end. That's the good news. Despise the cute bullshit.
I think ND makes a good point. Most other teams, when given a 1 point lead with a few minutes left, would be expecting their D to finish out the game, yet we're blaming offensive miscues. They contributed, but we had a chance to win the game at the end against a team that most other teams in the league could have stopped, and we couldn't pull it off.
I don't know what the % is but we run on 1st down alot, from time to time we need to mix it. I think we need to throw MORE on 1st down. I do agree on some of those trick plays, I hate when we are moving the ball in the base O and then they pull out the WC or some WR pass. We supposedly have a big time defense. At Miami and vs. jax our O scored late to give us leads and our D couldn't hold them. Just those 2 games the season looks completely different. Also, is it the O's fault we gave up 2 KRs for TDs against Miami? I hope he's better than the medicore playoff version of manning. he'll nevre be the reg season version but he should be good enough to get us to postseason.
Nice post, Jack. I have felt this way about Callahan for some time. People credit him for going to the SB, but the team was built by Chucky, and they sure didn't perform well in the game. Gannon had been groomed well, but fell apart and was soon out of the league. Callahan also lost control of the team the following year, went to Nebraska and failed. He seemed like a classic case of the Peter Principle at work. The only thing that some point to in his favor is that he's been working under the current offensive system, and Sanchez would presumably benefit from not having to change systems in year two. That's fine up to a point, but who says Callahan would not change or be able to continue the current system? Maybe at first, but isn't that exactly what happened in Oakland? There's basically nothing to suggest he would do better than BS at this point.
That woman has, without a single doubt, T-H-E finest ass I have ever had the pleasure of viewing......
Callahan - that's oour man. I'll never forget the fuck you he sent us when he was in Oaktown - I think it was 19 straight runs to start a game.
Fire schotty we scored points and lost the fact we scored in spite of him. when we scored we went back to what works why the heck does he deviate from it in the game? The dude has no feel for the game from what i have seen. good points this offense should have glowed last year and did not. Face it it is not the all the players fault and not all schotty's fault but so far you changed 3 qbs for the same mess the common person is schotty. Not a hard formula, run then occasional pass change the downs around then stretch the defense when they have set up the run but he can't seem to handle the formula and passes, trick plays then runs catches up and then the defense blows their load trying to keep them in the game.
Why didn't Cotchery go deep on the Flea Flicker pass by Braylon Edwards, that play is designed to go deep....what good is a 12 yard pass on a gimmick play like that...
See, this is one of the things I've questioned and wrote about it the "Schotty is Horrible" thread. I find it hard to believe that Cotchery would fuck-up such an easy route, i.e., a deep route on a trick play. So that leads to believe that the actual design of the play was awful. Even when we call trick plays, the WRs are STILL running hooks and comeback routes. It's mind-boggling.
I agree here; yer right. But, we dominated that Miami game and had the Offense put its collective foot and stepped on Miami's throat, the KRs wouldn't have mattered. Bottom line is, we didn't score as many points as we could have and should have. Just take a look at each first place team's (in each Division) Points Scored. Except for Cincy, does anything stand out to you? For quite some time now, under several regimes, the Jets have been in so many close games (that are important) because the Offense fails to run away with the game when it has the chance. It's nice we did it to Oakland; how about doing it against a good opponent in a crucial game.
We didn't dominate Miami and Miami also scored on a running back fumble that was returned for a TD. I think Shotty was outright handcuffed in the Miami game. We took the air out of the ball and let them hang around. The Dolphins weak spot on D is the deep passing game and we didn't go to it until we were in a big hole. Guys want to kill Shotty for not running enough you can't kill him for doing that.
Remember that the last home game we had Sanchez was terrible so he's being more conservative especially early in games. On the Cotch play, he has a read himself. I don't remember if there was a deep Safety but I assume that's why he broke the route and came back.
it is. the offense is coming back and saving the defense and special teams in the 4th qtr. But the defense lets the team down in the end.
Liked Denver with Shanahan, Houston with Qubiak. Don't care for Denver now, feel they are the Jets in 2006, team have gotten film and they are being shut down. The Saints passing game is great, they always have open receivers whether it be Henderson, Colston, or whoever. I like Philly's offense, but it relies way too much on the pass would like to see more balance. Schotty's offense has never gotten receivers open. It was first Chad's fault that receivers weren't open because it took so long for the ball to get there. Then you put in a rocket arm QB that is consistently putting balls into tight places. Everyone is happy, but it can't last because the risk for a short gain is too high. We have to lead the league in pick 6s since Schotty has came here. Favre gets the blame, even though he was force to throw 35+ times a game with a known injury. That is on the OC. Now he has Braylon, Cotch, but has the built in excuse of a rookie QB. How many times did we throw the skinny post in our first 3 wins? How many times since it bounced off Braylon's hands against Buffalo? That is a great play for Sanchez and has been successful. We never go back to it. Schotty does not understand spacing on routes or angles for the QB. I despise the constant change of personnel and the unnecessary motion before the snap, especially against lesser teams. Everything is outside the numbers for his passing game and that is the reason for all the pick 6s. Please tell me what you like about he offense? Where is the play action? You would think with the number one rushing O, you could actually have a decent passing game.
That "fuck you" is a great example of an offense exploiting a D's weakness, which is something Schotty doesn't seem to understand.
If that's true that's a big mistake by Cotch, that play is designed to go for a home run, not a 12 yard pass...
It is but I'm sure he has the option if he sees the S deep to break it off. On those halfback/WR options those guys wind up throwing the ball regardless if the play is open or not so if he keeps going deep and the S is back there we probably see an INT.
