Look, I am as frustrated as the next guy with some of the play calls I have seen this season. I didn't think he called a bad game against the Jags, and we have to keep in mind that we couldn't just keep doing what we did in the first 3 games and expect it to work after teams got more film on us, but I do agree that he calls some questionable plays and doesn't seem to stick to what works. Despite all that, the guy needs to be here next year if he doesn't find a head coaching job, and here's why. It's because Sanchez is a rookie, and I could leave it at that but I will explain. Do you want Mark to have to learn a new offense in the off-season going into his second year when he should be working on timing, having the game slow down for him, and perfecting plays he already knows? When you watched Brady and (moreso) Manning on Monday night, you saw guys who know where everyone is going to be. They hardly have to look to check through their options, because they know, for example, that if the 3rd read is running a slant from the wide left, he'll probably be at least to the middle of the field by the time he's checked to. Right now, Mark doesn't have this. Right now, he's probably not even getting to option 3 on a lot of plays. So what do you think will happen if a new coach comes in with new plays and terminology? Sure, the game experience might make Mark a little better, but we will not see the comfort factor we should see if the Jets use the same system. Also keep in mind that we don't have the coach's film. We don't see the open receivers that Mark might be missing. So, it goes both ways. You can criticize the play calls at certain down and distances, but we may only be in those down and distances because players didn't execute well-called plays earlier in the series, or you can say that we're only in those down and distances because bad plays were called earlier in the series. I'm sure it's a little bit of both.
Keep the play book, Keep the offense, Promote from within. I'd be willing to go with Callahan at this point. Shotty is not using the parts that have been assembled for him very well.
Brian needs to go. simple as that his inept play calling has hurt the team never mind it can hurt the young qb. This team is not good enough to over come bad play, officiating and coaching. If you believe there is someone better you go and get them. brian with his play calls coupled with putting the young qb to loose games that should never have been in question should be let go.
Mr. Gambini? Yes, sir? That is a lucid, intelligent, well thought-out objection. Thank you, sir. Overruled!!!
DUDE - What's with the topless batman avatars? Its making me feel a little homophobic!!! Not to mention I have to make sure no one is walking by my cube when I scroll a page!
I'm pretty sure that when Parcells was the coach here, Weis was his OC at one point and got his playcalling taken away at one point. I'm not 100% positive though, but I really don't want him back here.
That is true. It's been a long time since then though. We need to get someone in here that is experienced. Martz would be too pass happy imo and Rex would prolly break his jaw by the end of the year. Not sure who is left, unless someone gets fired.
Callahan is a great offensive mind. He has proven to be a good offensive coordinator in this league and moving him to OC wouldn't change the playbook. Callahan FTW.
Have you seen any of Charlie's post-game or half-time interviews? I'm pretty sure he's going to die soon. No sense hiring someone who won't even make it to training camp. Plus, that fat fahk was Bill Belichick's star witness against the Jets in his grievance. A prior regime, but still. . .
it would be funny to watch Rex & Charlie fight over the last turkey leg during one of the team dinners. but still....not worth it, IMO.
Schottenheimer deserves some more time to develop this offense. I'm not ready to fault him for the ineptness of the offense yet. I'm disappointed in Sanchez right now and if he doesn't shape up by the end of the year we might want to be planning for the future at QB again. Most of the top flight QB's in the league showed their potential in their rookie seasons and I'm afraid Sanchez hasn't shown much improvement since game 2 this year. We're going to need to see his "A" game this weekend to have a chance of beating the Pats.
I refuse to get a new coordinator outside of the organization. That would screw up Sanchez for good. I would be more then fine with promoting Callahan.
