Just a quick hypothetical to distract myself from the frustrating season:

    Hardy
    Dunlap
    Wooton
    Jerry Hughes
    Haden
    Dez Bryant
    Cody
    Arthur Jones
    McClain
    Spikes

Adding Marvin Austin and Everson Griffen

These are all great talents that might be available around 15. With the Jets looking like they're gonna be 8-8, who would you draft?

Definitely not a receiver. I'd love to see Dez Bryant in a Jets' uni, but that wouldn't make sense.

Joe Haden would be an awesome choice.

I want Carlos Dunlap over any other player in this draft. I think he'll go in the top five.

Brandon Spikes is a beast, but ILB isn't necessarily a need with Harris and Scott in the middle. The same goes for Rolando McClain.

I think you mean Arthur Jones and not Austin*? At this point, Jones would be a reach at 15. Corey Wootton would also be a reach RIGHT NOW.

Mount Cody is what this defense needs and if he's the BPA available when we pick, Tannenbaum has to make him a Jet.

Jerry Hughes is too much of a 'tweener to take in the middle of the first.

Greg Hardy scares me because he's so incredibly injury prone.

I want Mike Tannenbaum to build the lines in this draft.

Carlos Dunlap is my top player overall.

I'd like to see Everson Griffen (USC), Carlos Dunlap (Florida), Ndamukong Suh (Nebraska), Terrence Cody (Bama), or Marvin Austin (UNC) taken by the Jets in the first.

at #15 we'll prob have a shot at MArvin Austin and that's who I like. Cody won't be there, same for Dunlap...

I really want either Haden, Norwood, or Cody. If we could trade back into the late first and pick up a 3rd then we could go Norwood, Oghobaase/Wootton, and Deunta Williams.

    Gimme.

Also, I really wish Sean Weatherspoon fit our system. He's gonna be a stud in the pros.

To start with, at this point 8 - 8 is reaching. We were horrible through the soft spot in our schedule and are comming up to the hard games. if we win 3 more this year I'll be impressed.

Of that group, Cody for me.

Wooton and Hardy are interesting DE prospects with good size for the system. Wooton would need to fill out some though. He is a very lean 280ish.

Rolando McClain is an interesting prospect, but I would value Cody a bit higher. I'm not 100% sold he is comming out this year as well.

I spent a good 5 minutes thinking about who the hell Austin Jones was. Probably should have just read the next post.

Terrence Cody is my guy right now, but I haven't the slightest clue where that big, fat man may end up on draft day. What separates him is that he has that elite potential on the nose, which may push him up higher than even a Gerald McCoy in the top ten.

On a related note, I love Jerry Hughes, and wish he could fall into the 2nd for the Jets.

I have a feeling Kansas City may try really hard to sign Anquan Boldin, just so they can draft Cody to line up next to Tyson Jackson. That's how you build a 3-4...

If we're picking in the Top 10, Im not exactly sure who I'd want. Possibly Cody or Haden, but Dunlap would be sweet too.

    Berry would be beyond unbelievable.

Berry is one of the prospects to come out in years, but Dunlap and Cody would be more important players for this team's future. Our defensive line is crumbling.

Edited the original post. Sorry GH lol.

I really hate the fact that we need dlinemen so bad, as I would love to have almost any one of these guys (imagine Dez Bryant in the slot). Realistically, I think Cody would be available as I think San Fran will pick after us (even with the Carolina pick). And if we're somehow in the top 10, I can see us trading Rhodes to Cleveland (if Mangini is still around) and drafting Berry. I think we're too good to get Berry though

So Haden is a CB, right? Can he be as good as Revis?

if we end up top 10 you can bet your left and right nuggets that we are trading down.

Revis is Pro-Bowl CB in the NFL.

Haden is still a College player...hard to compare fairly.

Haden has all the talent to be special and would be perfect to team up with Revis. They both could be the best CB tandem in the league.

I meant potentially, and do his skillsets compare? I know nothing about Haden.

    Very similar!!!

Revis is a little taller, both are considered shutdown corners. Haden will probably run a low 4.4 which is acceptable.

Haden has played very well in a very aggresive conference.

Depending what Haden runs at the Combine he could be in the top 10. Will probably be drafted in the same area (low teens) Revis was drafted. Best CB in this draft. Texans really can use a CB and the Jets may draft before Houston and have a shot at Haden.

Damn, sounds like a nice fit for us.

It really seems like this draft class is STACKED. I really don't see how a great talent doesn't fall to us, regardless of where we draft.

The Jets have more holes than swiss cheese in their defense this NOV. than most,
including myself, previously thought going into 2009.

Rex is going to bring in his players and build his defense.

IMO, the Jets have only 5 (starters) players that are locks on the defensive side:

    Revis...no brainer
    Harris/Scott...our ILBs
    Pace.......outstanding 3-4 OLB.
Leonhard...not a great player...I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

All other starters are up for grabs....including Rhodes.

Kris Jenkins is a huge ?.......he may never be the same.

I hate to lock in a certain position in Rd 1, because we don't know who will be available when the Jets are OTC.

My assumption the Jets will be drafting in the 12-15 range.....missing out on players like Berry/Mays.

Here are my defensive targets for 2010 in Rd 1:

Terrence Cody......hard to pass Mt. Cody!!!

Joe Haden.......Don't ignore the CB positon. Rex knows the importance of a strong secondary. Jets would have a super unit at the CB position.

Eric Norwood.......a terror pass rusher. Not very tall, good bulk/size and could make the transition to 3-4 OLB.

Everson Griffen.....May transition to the 3-4 olb position and do well. Has similar size to Vernon G and has the desire VG lacks. Griffen is a football player and has even better physical skills than VG.

Corey Wootton......not a Rd 1 player in Nov, but will rise and be a 1st Rd 3-4 DE. (Jets could trade down later in Rd 1 to draft Wootton and pick up more picks)

Dunlap...........unbelievable talent....he scares me....great Risk/Reward. My above players, IMO, are less risky.
