my guess is that the Ahmad release this morning was probably meant to address this issue, assuming that JL's thumb is going to be hurt for a couple of weeks
Revis returning punts was one of the few things I didn't have a problem with yesterday. Leonhard hurt his hand and the Jets could ill afford to have another case of the retards on special teams 2 games in a row. SO in a pinch, you go to your future hall of fame lockdown corner who was a return man in college. I'm against using Revis at PR in the long run, but in the event of the Leonhard injury, I think it was a smart move by Westy.
For every jason Sehorn there are a million others that don't get hurt. deion sanders returned punts for yars as did Rod Woodson, Aaron Glenn was a good KR for us. When you have unique weapons you need to use them.
That's true, cause every time he broke a big one off I was like YAAAARRRRRR!!!! ok, I apologize for the lame joke
yea why are people that afraid for revis to return punts if hes good at it let him do it. Footballs a contact sport and revis knows that. THe only reason hes returning them anyway is cus of leonhards hand and leonhard is an important part of our d but no ones panties are in a twist with him making returns.
If Revis is the only one that the jets are positive will not muff the punt while Leonhard is hurt, then I have no problem with it.
Worst idea ever! Made me think of when the Giants did it with Sehorn back in the day. They had to be desperate for someone, I doubt Rex was hot on this call.
Perfectly said and is pretty much exactly what I was going to post. With Leonhard out you have to find somebody who you can stick back there and trust to catch the ball. Revis was formerly a very good punt returner and Westhoff/Ryan must have been confident that he was the best man for the job. As far as long term, I wouldn't want to see Revis returning punts.
