I honestly believe this team is a talented football team. Ryan cannot get his troops to focus and exectue. Yeah i love the energy he brings, i love the entiusiasm, i love the fact he's a fun guy. But guess what, games are only fun when you win. Yea when our team can buckle down and execute we can have fun along the way. But when you're not giving 100% and executing, the fun stops and we have to revert to fundamentals. Poor tackling, non clutch plays, burning TOs.
But Rex does not hold our players accountable for their actions. He makes up bullshit excuses after games, still talks shit after getting beat. I also think that he lacks the leadership to focus a team. By making his stupid grandiose remarks he opens the door for big mouth kerry rhodes, and bart scott among others to run their mouths. This whole attitude grows a culture of undisciplined sloppy football, leading to stupid turnovers, bad play calling, and everything else we've seen since week 4. I think Rexy needs to grow up and be a coach instead of trying to be one of the boys. This team will not be good and executing until he can do that.

Sanchez called that timeout with a lot of time left on the playclock. It was a rookie mistake. Kerry Rhodes was sleeping when Leonhard was SCREAMING at him.

Those 2 things, complied with 1 or 2 things in every game during this slide, has prevented us from winning. It's something new every week, it's unreal

Don't go here. The intelligentsia of the board doesn't believe Rex should be accountable to anything.

I was worried Rex was going to challenge the Greene touchdown call -- which he essentially did by calling a timeout to get his personnel set.

eh, they say he called that due to 12 men o the field...it's a toss-up really, are you convinced we would have punched it in from the 6 after taking a penalty? I'd like to think so, but you never know...

The question isn't should he have called a timeout ... the question is, why was he in a position of needing to call a timeout.

At first, I was too excited with the JETS having "life" energy and persona, but I have to agree after watching today's game. Over pursuit, sloppy tackling, mis-ques etc...... seems like they came out with the attitude that the game was in the bag. Wasn't until the 2nd half that they realized it wasn't but it was a bit too late.

The rookie QB made some bad mistakes, but this loss was NOT just on him....... I'd like to see this team get their shit together to carry some positive momentum to carry over to next year (who knows if that means shit) but right now, they're NOT a playoff team

I like Rex but I wish he would just shut up. if he never opened his mouth and talked big we'd probably be happy to be 5-6 but he talked big and his team isn't delivering.

I think Rex has the mkaings of a really good coach but the use of TOs is atrocious. Yougive up 5 yards early in the 3rd qtr rather than waste the TO, you have your team prepared 1st and G at the 1. heck if you are going to waste a TO just throw the challenge flag as the Greene run was close anyway.

Even w/ the TOs our supposed great D had a chance to end it and they allowed Jax to march right down the field.

\The time to allow them to score the TD wa the play before not the play they tried to.

rex is a rookie HC, he needs to learn too.

    I agree with this.

I also believe if Rex keeps yakkin' and the team continues to lose.....the chance of him losing the locker-room is always there.

That's one thing I'm really not worried about. The players LOVE him, you can tell by what they say and you saw in the second half how the defense played. Shit, I don't think they gave up a first down til that last drive. I just think he has to show them that he's not happy with the way they've been playing. He needs to find the right balance between confidence in his players and just blind bravado.

And I hate playing this game, but if Rhodes wasn't sleeping on that deep pass to that TE that has the same name as a German automobile maker who knows how today's game could have ended. I really hope Rex has a serious conversation with Rhodes about the way he's carrying himself. That's twice this season that he screwed up on a deep pass (I don't think I need to mention the other time)

up to now, i would say rex ryan is a excellent defensive coordinator, but has no clue about what it takes to be a coach. self discipline, player management, game management are mental area's you either have it or you don't, rex doesn't have it!

The big question is why the Jets weren't in big men on the half yard line? They came back in with big men after the TO but they had 3 WR on the field (Keller split out a bit) when Sanchez called the TO. I'm pretty sure the 12th man was Robert Turner on the line (who should have been in) while Edwards, Cotchery and Keller were all still on the field.

    Your dead on with this.
Rex has to be above the team and instill dicipline. Guys need to be held accountable.
His pressers are unlistenable to me. He prides himself on being a straight shooter but always has the same fuckin lame " i think we're a good team" rehetoric after a loss.
Parcells said it best, "you are what your record says you are". We are a fuckin lame below average team with a lame below average coach.
Rex should grow some balls and say "i'm just as disappointed in this team as the fans are. We stink. I need to find guys that are gonna make a play. Every player on this team better look at themselves in the mirror when they get home tonight and ask themselves what they need to do to make themselves a better football player."

i have to agree with you completely and totally on this. he has far too much work to do on HIMSELF to be talking to anyone.

you did catch hell vilma, i agreed with you then and i still agree with you now.

i really want rex to be a great coach, i think he has potential... i hope that he is given some time and has enough self awareness to correct the things that are blatantly deficiencies.
