The only valid criticism you can really make about the D at this point is that it's largely been lacking in the big play department. It has however been playing solid football and to say it's mediocre at best is ignorant.

Defensive touchdowns do not play on a defensives success at all? I agree Francessa is bias, but of course an aggressive defense that scores off of turnovers is part of being a good defense. Because we have not is not a knock but happening certainly would make us better. Baltimore and Pittsburgh, the two defenses who come to mind when I think of defenses are two teams that score on defense and I think it is very significant in rating these two.

Even as a Giants' fan, I only take what he says so far. He's VERY good at getting emotional reactions out of his listening audience (how do you think he's been on the air as long as he has?) and if you want to listen to him effectively you have to recognize the "traps" he sets for what they are. He does know quite a bit about football and can be informative, but only if you sift through the irritating BS that he purposely clogs his show with.
They're certainly not mediocre, but as others have pointed out the haven't played the fiercest of offenses (except the saints). Also, when we played the Saints we were never leading, so the Saints didn't have to unleash the full offense imo. Same with the dolphins.
You and I both know that the Patriots of week two are not the same as the current Pats offense. It was Brady's second regular season game in a year and he was missing Welker. I'll admit that I was foolish to overlook that Texans offense was as good as it is.
The Patriots offense has looked great against shitty defenses. The last good defense they faced, they lost. I'm not so sure it was as much as a fluke as every wants to make it seem.
He just said it again although he didn't use mediocre today he said "The Jets defense talks a big game, and you know what, it's time for them to live up to expectations, they talk big and they haven't scored a defensive touchdown yet." Wow I never knew the measurement of a defense is how many defensive touchdowns you score. So if the Rams had 3 defensive touchdowns and the Steelers had 1 then the Rams are a better defense. bwahaha
