There was basically the entire OL from the Mid 80's except Joe Fields... guys like Mike Haight and the 2 holding machines Jeff Criswell and Dave Cadigan are easily among my most despised Jets. If they were only average we may have won a SB but they were absolute garbage.
I definitely wanted to see Chad succeed, but I never felt comfortable with him at quarterback. I never had the confidence in him that I wanted our team leader to have. Like now, with the defense, when the other team gets the ball, I am VERY confident that the defense will step up and hold them. And I hope that we will get to the point where when we need to score a few points, I can think "Need points? No biggie, we got Sanchez." But I could just never feel that with Chad. It made it difficult for me to support him.
I bet he'd look a lot better in our current defensive scheme, it seemed like he was always playing prevent. Barrett will always have a special place in my heart for his INT in the playoffs against PIT in '04.
I was a bigtime Ray Lucas supporter. I never, ever rooted for Brett Favre...even when the team was winning.
Not even close - Favre. I hated him years before he got here, grew tired of his selfish offseason antics years ago, and I did not want him here under any circumstances. I have never been so ambivalent about the Jets as I was at the end of last season. Class and selfless leadership (Pennington) was replaced by the most selfish player of our generation. And in the end, class won out in our stadium in the last game of the season. Thank God he stunk it up at the end of the year and took Mangidiot with him.
I thought about putting him but I never hated him until after that Steelers game so I'm not sure I can say it was hard to root for him. However, he does deserve a mention in this thread as being a complete fuck up
There are some players that, over the years, I may not be particularly fond of, but I root for all of them when they are on the field on Sundays. Even if I don't like a player, I have no difficulty rooting for him to make a play for us
I haven't followed the Jets for a long time but I have a problem rooting for Gholston... the kid just puts in no effort whatsoever while other, less talented, players bust their tail off on every snap!
Scott Norwood. Oh wait, wrong team. Does anyone remember when we drafted kyle brady? There are so man y simularities to the Gholston pic it's not funny. both were booooooo'd. both were work out warriors with granite, freakish bodies. True specimes. Kyle had hand of rock. Gholston has brains of rock. We essentially drafted Gholston for the same reasons we drafted Kyle. "Looks good in the locker room" (in fact, coach, owner, or someone in the jet's org actually siad that about Kyle). When Mangina was pushing for VG, someone should have popped a tape of Kyle Brady.
Gladys Gholston Mark Gastineau- not a big fan of men with womens' hair; also the most selfish player in team history, much more selfish than Brett Favre- all those criticizing Favre for being selfish need to do the same with Gastineau Siupeli Malamala, Jeff Criswell, Dave Cadigan- penalty machine linemen Rick Mirer- I used to trash this guy all the time when he played for Notre Dame, Seattle, and Chicago so then to have to root for him with the Jets was difficult Kyle Brady and Anthony Becht- big stiff tight ends who made me uncomfortable every time they caught a pass
Gholston was booed on draft day? I watched the draft and don't remember hearing that. I do know that at this website the Gholston selection was generally well-received. Leading up to the draft, it seemed there were only a few people here who hated Gholston. I would get ripped on a regular basis for writing that the Jets need to avoid Gholston. It seemed to me that 90% of the posters wanted Gholston. Perception is reality, right?
