I'm starting to get used to these phantom 'drubbings' that Pats fans promise against the Jets and their team fails to deliver. Even when the Jets were a 4-12 team under Mangini and the Pats were lighting the world on fire in 2007, and their fans were promising a 50 point loss, the Jets held the Pats to their lowest offensive output of that season. Enjoy your phantom Super Bowl, too, with your mirage of a contender.
The Pats forum is boring. C'mon you guys love when fans of other teams come on here! (Just like how pats fans love when trolls come to their boards) It's no fun to sit around all day and talk about how great your team is!
Um...it was YOUR TEAM who compared week two to the Superbowl, why do you guys keep forgetting this! You also keep ignoring a few key facts to week 2's game that are pretty important whether you want to admit it to yourself or not. Brady was playing his second game after no football for a year. No Welker No Jerod Mayo The Pats get better every week, every year. You will not be playing the same team you played in week 2!!!!!!! Honestly, who knows what will happen, but I don't think anyone will be betting against the Pats in week 11.
Know one expects to win every game, it's just how we lose games is disturbing to me.. 1 Game at a time.... I guess..
Jets- No Calvin Pace Lito got injured as well as Strickland. No Braylon Edwards Mark has more experience now. It's a simple game plan to beat the Pats. Put pressure on Tom. Denver did that successfully and so did we. I know I'm betting on the Jets. Edelman was a fine replacement for Welker, you can dink and dunk to him all day, while Revis makes Pats fans forget that Moss is even playing. You aren't playing the same team in week 2 either!!!!!!
I remember there was a time when Pats fans bragged about how their team performed against adversity, in the face of injuries, and laughed at excuses for a loss. Now all they do is dole them out.
I'll join you in believing we are a playoff-caliber team providing that you promise not to jump off the deep end and lose your shit if we managed to go 8-8 and miss the playoffs.
Perfect timing for a SOJ fan to jump in- We're in the midst of speaking to a guy that worships Tom Brady, he thinks he's a god. Either that or he has tuberculosis and is fucked. Either way, don't give him any encouragement. Please comeback later you're making Jet fans look bad, or more to the point, yourself.
You're right. In week 2 we thought we were paying a team with a breakout star rookie quarterback. After week 2 we were a little nervous about week 11. But now....we're at ease because you guys prove one thing year after year, after year, after year... Same. Old. Jets.
I really value your input and look forward to you returning in 10 years when the Patriots are crap and are once again a lost franchise with not fan base. You will get kicked off the Jet bandwagon repeatedly no matter how hard you try to get on. If we are the SOJ, as long as we beat you for a THIRD time on a row, I think I'll survive. You on the other hand will still be trying to suck Tom off even in a losing effort. Root for whoever you want Champ, when you have tuberculosis every day counts. It's not life threatening though, so cheer up.
Jetzz is right, the people that flip out the most on this board at the end of the season are usually the ones expecting the team to do the best.
Who cares what some dopey Pats fan says or thinks? And the fans who post here don't make the Jets look bad - if they look bad, it's because they are. I don't understand the thinking of some people around here... Anyway, I have not given up on the season. I have just lost most of the optimism I had at 3-0. That can build up again if the Jets win this week. and the week after. And the week after that. Etc.... Do I think that likely? Probably not, but I am really only focused on the Jville game. All the rosy optimists here, even today, will have to admit they will be less so if the Jets lose to Jville. Are they capable of doing so? Of course they are. So what are we really talking about? It's been that long since losing to F'ing Miami that we can all feel great about this season? Not me. For clarificaition, though, I intend to look forward to hopefully some really good, maybe even great, moments the rest of this season. Jville is next. Hope for a win. That's what counts right now. Not what some f'ing Pats fan says.
I can see that, just thought it could've waited a little longer. There is no point in giving this Pats fan anymore to work worth. I expect them to win, but if they don't, I won't be pissed. This team has a very bright future our defense is mostly young and our QB is 22, not 32.
Big Blocker- I was talking about Jet fans, what's better material then a self hating Jet fan. I get, I've read your posts and you expect 8-8 too. I for one can think see the light and refuse to not expect my team to win. We aren't going 8-8, or 9-7 for that matter. I know that's only my opinion but that's why I go to the games and buy the merchandise, because I am a Jet fan. Is it wrong to expect great things from your team?
GFY Rodimus  It's like Abyz said... it's about being realistic. After 8 games, I don't see anything realistic about making the playoffs. Can we? Sure... it can happen, and I always hope for the best for this team, but I'm not so blinded by green that I don't see the writing on the wall either. Meanwhile other Jets fans will make it out to be the Apocalypse if we fall short when it is obvious we have issues. Unfortunately for us, the Pats are still at the top of the food chain. We are getting better against them over the last 2-3 years, but look who's out front of the AFCE again this year? And he hasn't said a lot that isn't true.. they had a weak start and picking up steam. We had a great start and experiencing some setbacks. I always enjoy when we kick the shit out of em, but playing them at this point of the season in their backyard... won't be easy.
TY, GFY- Now that we have the pleasantries out of the way. You didn't see flashes of brilliance along this 4-4 ride? We aren't number 1 in rushing and on "D" for no reason. Mark is getting better, we have all our WR's back and the defense is only getting better. I'm not explaining this again, but to me this team is no doubt a Playoff team. Until they are mathematically out of it, they are. That's what I see- That's my realistic view of the situation.
Well, actually I said in pre-season 8-8 or 9-7 if the Jets got help at wideout, which they did. But that's just a pre-season guess. How it looks right now? Actually I think it's pretty wild. Who are these guys, anyway?!?? That's the point - win the next two, and we'll know far better. Why? Because the first win would be a bounce back win against a team that arguably a team that wants to get to the playoffs HAS TO beat. The second game is particularly necessary - not only (assuming a win over Jville to avoid going back to .500) but also to improve the division record and draw NE closer in hopes of winning the division. At 6-4 we can be optimistic again. Until then? Not so much. And YES, there IS something wrong with EXPECTING your team to do well. Did you really mean to say EXPECT? I would have thought hope would have been the much better word. Expect? I don't expect anything from this team, quite frankly. I am after all a Jet fan.
Nice post, Jetzz. I totally agree. Frankly, even if the Jets beat Jville, looking forward to the NE game will be... difficult.
Of course we had some really good looks over 4-4 ride. And it would be nice to get to the playoffs if for nothing else, it would give Sanchez some more experience with that kind of pressure and all. But we've also had some setbacks... injuries being the number one concern. Playing the better teams in the league I think we will end up missing Jenkins quite a bit. I'm impressed in how the D has played some games without him, but his loss is going to hurt us long term. Leon Washington to a lesser degree, but there is some loss to our playmaking ability there that I haven't seen Greene pick up in his absence. Our WR and secondary have been dinged up pretty good too. But then there is the fact that we gave away games like Buffalo and Miami (2nd time). There has been some coaching and playcalling snafu's... rookie QB growing pains. On paper before the season started I would readily say playoffs were possible. Now after 8 games, we might not have enough to get us there. It's just not the end of the world if we miss out this year. I believe this team can be even better next year.
