Why do people think Leon is still our best offensive player? He hasn't shown a great deal to me this year with the added touches. He isn't doing anything on KO's. His stats are dwarfed by TJ's. Leon's long this year is like 30 yards. TJ has ripped of at least 2 for more than 50. Shonn Greene's numbers are on pace to be better than Leon's based on playing time (right now Greene has more TD's and avg's almost a yard more per carry) This comparison can only go until Shonn hits 71 carries. Receiving stats also show Leon may not be the best. Of the 5 pass catchers in double digits, 4 of them have longer receptions than him. Plus, they have all scored a TD. Now, is Leon our best offensive player?

Forgive me for just pasting this from one of my replies to another post. I felt it was worthy of its own thread.

Obviously, due to injury, Leon in not currently our best player on the offensive side of the ball. I was merely reacting to th many posts I've seen stating we are missing our best offensive player.

As of right now our best offensive weapon is Braylon Edwards, because he's the only guy who can really stretch the field.

the reason why people believe that is the change of pace he brings to the table.
what i mean is that he's a threat to break one pretty much every time he touches the ball. to be the geek i am, he's like moving your queen in chess. when she's out you gotta start paying attention. ok geek over.

as for his production on kickoffs this year, its the wedge.. or lack of it (imo).

And no one has really been saying Leon is the best weapon anymore. Especially after the injury and with Braylon on board.

I am still seeing posts whining about not having our best offensive weapon. That is why I posted this thread. I know he is hurt, but why are people using his absence as an excuse. If you loook at film, I would call TJ our best offensive weapon. It really pains me to say that too. He has had the most breakout plays, been the most consistent. What else do we need?

Without Braylon pulling coverage TJ isn't going anywhere.

I think TJ reaps the benefits of Braylon just as much as Mark.

As much as we've done it, it might as well be the best weapon we have.

We have no reason to think there are not enough weapons on our offense to succeed. There is loads of talent on our squad - with a rookie QB comes growing pains, we all know that.

Let's see where we are this time next year. Leon is a great weapon and don't let the fact that he had not been in the endzone this year skew your impression of how important he is. At least three of Jones TD's were set up by Washington runs inside 2-3 yards and they plugged Jones in to knock it in.

That makes TJ sound more important. Points win games. If Leon is the star, then TJ or Greene pound out those yards and Leon gets the gold.

Mark Sanchez. The OC has not yet figured out how to use him to the best of his ability yet, given his lack of experience.

As much as I love Leon, TJ just had his 3rd 100+ yard game in a row - our running game seems to be pretty damn healthy.

Braylon definitely looks like our biggest impact player on offense right now - he's made some incredible plays.

Have you seen Leon's numbers in the past 3 years??? Leon's a game changing offensive player. Yes this year he got off to a slow start, but he eventually would have gotten on his usually path.

in a premature way you are correct. The kid shows he can make plays, but people want to only point out the two INT riddled games as if that's the only thing he's done.

He is a playmaker and a leader and is mobile behind the LOS. He has plenty of weapons around him, and they are all very young. This could be an awesome offense if called correctly.

Our defense is my 1st choice.
    Braylon's the obvious 2nd.

Edwards is only a weapon if Sanchez can get him the ball.
Right now he's not doing a good job of that.

I hate playing this game, but if you take those 2 games out he's only thrown 2 INT's in 6 games. Doesn't change the fact that he's thrown 10 overall but it really shows that numbers don't tell the full story of how he's been playing.

More alarming however is his 8 fumbles, he needs to protect the ball a lot better than he is right now

I still think Leon is our top offensive weapon. Is there any denying that? He can break one every time he gets the ball. I'm hoping his injury isn't as serious as some have made it out to be.

With Leon out Braylon Edwards is our top playmaker. He can stretch the field and with consistent QB-play could be an elite NFL receiver. Our future is bright on both sides of the ball, we have playmakers all over the fucking place.

it isn't a terrible game to play.

The fumbles have a chance of going away. Brady fumbled 14 times in 2001, his 1st full year and it was his 2nd year in the NFL and he started more games in college than Sanchez - which by my logic he had more time to learn than our new franchise signal caller.

His total TDs are now more than his INTs, and he's winning games or keeping them close as well. The kid is the real deal, and I think this can be an awesome decade for the Jets if the CS doesn't destroy themselves.
