a coach doesn't hvae to take a loss well......BUT, i do think if he's going to talk mad shit the way r.ryan does he better back it up with Ws
I like the bitter reaction it shows that he has confidence in his teams and it will help the players. He knows they are better then this. We dont need a dead fish in mangina looking like a kicked puppy after a loss. I also liked sanchez and braylons reaction at the end of the game when they lost. Our team expects to win and while we havent been they still believe they can win and that atleast gives me hope and will make me excited to watch every sunday (or thursday).
....which is exactly what happened yesterday...... I usually agree with your posts, abyzmul, but I respectfully disagree on this one. What Scott said was a little punk maybe.....but Ryan just told it the way it was. That's just who he is....
How many W's does he have to back it up with? We got 4 so far... maybe we can get some more this season.
No I think Rex should be more respectful just like Belicheat: Opening Statement... It was a tough loss like it always is in the division. Give the Jets credit. They just did a better job than we did today... On struggles in the red zone... We just didn't do a good enough job. They did a better job than we did. On play of Patriots' defense... We didn't do a good enough job. On delay-of-game penalties... We didn't get the play off in time. On whether delay of games were a result of the communication change... ...We just didn't do a good enough job. On whether they were caught off-guard by Jets defensive schemes... They did what they did and they did a good job of it. They played it well and did a good job with it. On Jets' scoring drive to start the second half... ...We didn't play those three plays very well and they did. Still my favorite On Wes Welker's absence.... He was inactive because he wasn't able to play. On Julian Edelman's performance... ...From the players, to the assistant coaches, we just collectively didn't do a good enough job. That's all there is to it. On whether anything was said in exchange between head coaches after the game... Congratulations. On whether offense was hurt by having a short week to prepare for Jets' blitz packages... ... They just did a better job. On whether he was impressed by Mark Sanchez's poise... Like I said, they did a good job. On picking up Jets blitzes... We could've been better but I think it was alright. I don't think they ever sacked us. They hit us a few times so there's certainly room for improvement. We could have done a lot of things better. We need to do them better.
What Scott said wasn't a little punk, it was total punk. But Bart is Bart, and you have to expect him to punk people out. Rex, well, he shouldn't be in front of a microphone for a while after the game. Not that is disagree with him at all, but if the scoreboard says you lost, most times it's not because you played great.
If you don't disagree with him, then why call him classless and a punk. Your own center also said we got our butts whiped. Sometimes it doesn't always end with a W. Dolphin fans should know that after peyton manning and the colts won that monday nighter
I love this post. I have been a firm believer that this team is in need of a big rebuild top to bottom. The reason is not just the stuff we have seen this year but because of the outright collapse of the team down the stretch last year against very mediocre competition. The Jets are reminding me a little bit of the Mets a couple of years ago. Supposedly loaded, talk the big game but the results are less than what appears to be the sum of the parts. I see the Jets as in full rebuild. We have a very young QB who probably needs 2 to 5 years of heavy combat coupled with physical and mental maturity. We have some real holes on both lines that need to be filled and we may need to bring a few more "winners" into the locker room. Not the talkers the producers in the big moments. The coach is a rookie and it's a fine line between being confident and really looking at what we have and being smart enough to cut out the dead wood while bringing along those who are going to be part of the future success of the club. I hope Rex confidence is more a cover than a reality for what we clearly don't have on this team. Leadership, smarts, experience and enough competent skill to be a consistent winner.
and the jets outperforming the dolphins and still losing the game is not the first time it's happened to an NFL team, jesus christ........... everyone knows, every coach knows.....it's the total game..... offense, defense, special teams... jets just had a game against the bills where they ran all kinds of crazy yards and still lost the game. why doesn't r.ryan just be accountable as a coach and tell it like it is, he could have said: "we lost the game because we executed in only 2 parts of our entire team and because we lost the ball which was returned for a TD" "give the dolphins credit for stopping on us on the last drive in their territory with all the momentum on our side and after having converted a 4th down earlier in the drive" "while we outperformed the dolphins defensively and offensively we forgot to pay attention to special teams which we should have paid attention to considering they were starting a disgruntled player at kickoff returner who had a lot to prove - and we still had not addressed special teams even after the 2nd kickoff return because we kept kicking to him" "though we kept the dolphins from scoring a TD the entire 1st half, we also failed to score a TD in the 1st half" "we failed to lead during the 3rd quarter and give our defense a chance to protect the lead" the list goes on and on for reasons a team loses....saying what he said just makes him sound like a poor sport. he lost and can't admit to it. actually, he lost TWICE.
Bottom line is Special teams is part of the game as well. You give up 14 pts on special teams and a defensive td and it is gonna be awfully hard to win a game. As for the post game comments, tip your hat and move on. Yes we did dominate them in yards gained but we still lost. I don't mind talking us up before the game, but after the game admit what we did wrong, why we lost and move on. All of these Ls have been bc we have been atrocious in one part of the game, whether it be offense (new orleans, buffalo), defense(miami), special teams(miami). If we don't start clicking on all cylinders we aren't going to win ball games, its that simple. We need to get these problems fixed on our bye week.
Also this writer for the herald, who is he? You would sweat it was Jason Taylor himself writing the article. Thats exactly why he writes in a small media market and not in Chicago,NY, LA, Boston. Terrible job by that writer, grow up. "The Dolphins are a team with character. The Jets are a bunch of jerks." "In that loser's locker room, Bart Scott, who last week talked openly of trying to hurt Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne".....I don't remember this if someone can inform me. "After losing to Miami for the second time in three weeks, their blowhard coach actually talked about how his team outplayed the Dolphins." These comments sound like an angry 14 year old wrote them......
Two fake punts 0 points. Two returns 12 points. See the difference? What does the Monday Night Miracle have to do with anything?
you're absolutely correct about the guy who wrote the article however ryan and the rest bring these types of articles upon themselves. as a jets fan i am disgusted by bart scotts comments and feel as though i was listening to a 13 year old talk back to his parents. rex ryan could have also done a much better job in the post game press conference. the fact that we lost to the dolphins twice makes me sick, the fact that they get extra fuel to come here and talk shit after beating us twice, makes me more sick. the fact that i have to agree with these guys who i have deep rooted hatred for because they are right and our coach and star defender sounded like whiny children makes me want to go away until after next week. but i will sit here and take it from them and sit here in shame hoping that these 2 guys will finally stop talking so much. but ive been saying that since before preseason.... id love to see the age differences on each side of this discussion.... all the old guys think it was a bad move to make those comments..... what i think are the younger guys think it was great. i guess i am an old guy now.
rex ryan has deep hatred for the phins because his daddy was the defensive coordinator for the 85 bears if I recall correctly... Marino and shula systematically destroyed their defense and gave them their one and only blemish which kept them from joining the dolphins as the only team to have a perfect season.
I don't think it matters what anyone says, what matters is getting wins. And the Jets have as many losses as wins so far this year, so they are not very good.
Well I'm 25 (not to old yet haha) so I'd probably be one of the younger guys who disagreed w/ the post game comments. Agree about Scott. If he wants to address anything, address the fact that the team didnt execute on special teams, or the defense didn't stop them on an important 4th quarter drive. Take it a step further I thought the Dolphins punter did an excellent job on a few punts pinning us deep in the first half.
I have to admit the actions of some of our players this year has been an embarrassment. Rhodes and Scott in particular just can't keep their mouths shut. It's one thing when you're going out every week and dominating. It's another thing when you're a mediocre team struggling for respect, which is what the Jets are right now.
