I'm just hoping to see some development from our rookie QB and rookie HC at this point. We're not a playoff team unless we can miraculously start firing on all cylinders every week from here on out.

You are right that this team is far from done.

The D is far from done taking in the bunghole courtesy of the Ricky Williams's, Ronnie Browns, and Chad Henne's of the world. In 2 weeks David Garrard will come in and light it up like Steve Young in his MVP years.

The Offense if far from done getting penalized every friggin time the game is on the line. You can be sure Ben Hartscocker has at least 5 or 6 illegal motion or false start penalties to get flagged for on potential game-winning / game-tying drives late in the 4th Quarter.

I admit, I let myself hope a little bit after the NE and TENN games that maybe, just maybe, this was not the SOJ. But after the last 3 disgraceful displays of classic Jets' football, if you still think this team is going anywhere this season, you are either insane or stupid.

we mind as well just flop over and go 5-11 and get a good draft pick and we won't. Well go fucking 8-8 and have the 14th-17th pick in the draft and be mislead the entire season to thinking we might make the playoffs.
This franchise is just flat garbarge. Its hard to admit, but they are. And all of you guys who don't think so are just denying the inevitable. We suck ass and we will never win anything. If i was a player this is the last team I would want to play for. But I still love this team.

You'd rather play for the Lions, the Rams, the Raiders, the Bucs, or the Bills? I doubt it.

    Stop fucking crying.

I'm not happy about not making the playoffs either, but it's not as bad as you think - as long as Sanchez gets better and better, this franchise will be set for years...at least on offense.

2010's draft will make all of us feel a little bit better about being mediocre.

    Amen brother.

I didn't have high expectations for this year anyway. Tough schedule....new coach, new QB....this season is more of a litmus test if anything.

The Jets need to stock pile picks in the 2010 draft.......we need to restock this roster with quality depth.

While 3-0 did pump us all up, I am still glad to be 4-4 at the bye. I never went into this season thinking the playoffs were a definite, I was always hoping for us to battle all the way to the end. It seems like it's setting up to be like that, and all I want to see is improved coaching decisions and better QB play from here on out. ST cost us the game today, and that makes it real hard to swallow. But I think we are in great shape for years to come.

I just don't get all you guys who think were in great shape. We may be. We just may be. But look at the history of this team. The qbs we had have always been jsut complete letdowns. Pennington was the next coming of christ in 2002 when he took over, now where he is. On the sidelines for the biggest rival we have. We have to go all the way back to 1960's to remember when we had an established QB, THE 1960's!!!!

I don't look at the history to help see the potential of our future. Might be the same team, but these are all completely different players in a completely different situation. Just because they are the Jets doesn't mean they are screwed for all eternity IMO...

I think with the players we have we can be a real good team for years to come. As long as Sanchez develops and our HC learns to game management a little better, which will improve in time, we can be very successful. Line help would help too...

Considering the amount of playoff appearances we have this decade, I considerably doubt players would rather play for teams like the Lions or Browns over us.

As for us being mediocre and not getting a "good" pick: Revis was the 14th pick of the 2007 draft, other than Adrian Peterson I don't think there's been better player in the NFL than Revis in that draft.

As someone pointed out before, we made the playoffs in '06 being 4-4 with a much worse team than this one. And if we don't? As so many people have pointed out, rookie QB, rookie coach, a bunch of new D-players, injuries. Most people predicted the Jets to do worse than this at the beginning of the year, and that was before we lost Kris Jenkins, Leon, not to mention the myriad of nagging injuries to our CBs and WRs.. Bottom line, 4-4 is a shame really could have been 7-1, but it could have been so much worse.

I'd like to thank the team for dashing my hope earlier than last year.

Way to go Jets, gettin' it done by mid-season. Now I can spend my time watching some quality football games.

    Have nice bye week fellas.

    You've earned it.

For all the darksiders, we have the number one rushing offense and Mark is getting better and will only improve. We have the #2 defense for yards allowed. Defense wins championships. Sure things haven't gone our way lately but if you don't have the confidence that this team will turn it around and start rackin up more W's than L's then gtfo. Seriously we could be Tampa or Detroit. Would you rather we be like them? Of course not, and don't even say you would because then you wouldn't get your hopes up. They must never get excited for football. Atleast we can get excited for football.

"Defense wins championships."? I always thought winning games does that.
And Tampa won SB43...just 6 years ago. Jets won SB3. 40 years ago.

Yep, things sure haven't gone our way lately.

what is really funny to me is the same people bitching about the year being done and how awful it is are most definitely the same people who kept saying we were gonna go 4-12 this season. i get the whole bitter darksider thing, but when the team is out performing your initial expectations and your still bitching at full force you have a problem.

Actually more often than not it's the D that wins championships. Winning many games doesn't quite cut, just ask the Patsies. :gpc:

And Tampa certainly did not win SB43. It was played in Tampa but the winner was the Shitsburgh Steelers.

I see it that were in the same kind of a situation that we were back in 06, going into the bye 4-4 after a heart breaking loss, with quality opponents still left on the schedule. Now we made it 6-2 and clinched the last WC spot with a far more worse team than we have now.
As I take a look at the schedule, it's not that bad. We can win every game left on the schedule (yes I said it). NE or Buffalo don't scare me one bit, and neither do the Colts as they will have probably clinched the division when we play them and will probably play a lot of backups against us.
All is not lost my friends, not by a long shot.

I guess its frustrating when, like me, a lot of people had us going 8-8, maybe 9-7 this season (which looks like it will be the case). Then, its like someone showed us that we might be significantly better than that, then yanked it all away.

Its like showing you your brand new shiny sports car for your birthday present, then telling you its someone else's and you get a used Buick. Still a nice car, but not the sports car.
