rex ryan is terrible head coach. how does he go for those two point conversions. gotta realize in the history of the nfl the successful rate is only 35 percent.....to go for it from the 7 yard line is absurd. we kick xps there instead goin for two...then its 30 27 at end of game and we can tie it with fg instead goin for it on 4th down. also anyone catch how tony sporano used t.o.s on D in case we scored so they would have time left? rex saved his t.os against mia like an idiot when we could have had a min or so left to win it.
Sometimes Ryan lets his arrogance get in the way of decision making. That can spell trouble. Same thing that plagued his Daddy. He can put together a defensive scheme but he lacks game management skills so far.
No one seems to understand that. It was dumb to go for the 1st 2 pt conversion but we got that point bck when Sparano made one of the worst decisions I have ever seen going for 2 after their next TD so Rex's bad decisions did not come back to haunt us. Giving away 21 pts to a team we dominated came back to haunt us.
I can't wait to hear Sparano's explanation for that. I find it hard to believe that if he followed the "card", it would reflect trying for 2 in that spot. How can you say you dominated us? Add the special teams yardage in and it's an even game. You dominated TOP because we only had the ball for 3 plays in the 3rd quarter. At the end of the third and first 7 minutes of the 4th, the Dolphins put together a nice drive. Special teams is just as much a part of the game as offense and defense. If you compare all the stats (i.e yards per carry, QB stats, etc,) you'll be surprised at what you see.
This is an example of what I was talking about. Henne- 58% comp rate, 1TD no picks Sanchez- 58% comp rate, 2 TD no picks Average yds per rush- Dolphins 2.9 Jets 3.0 3rd down efficiency- Dolphins- 29% Jets- 21% Total Net yds- Dolphins- 423 Jets- 530 Red Zone efficiency- Dolphins- 100% Jets- 60% Goal-to-Goal Dolphins- 100% Jets- 50% Now, if you look at those stats and also factor in that the way we scored basically allowed their team to have the ball for 10 minutes longer than us of course their offense is going to look way better. If Ginn doesn't return those two kickoffs, would our offense have been able to score? Would the Dolphins have been able to put together long scoring drives? Who knows?!
Yep its all part of the same game and should be viewed as such, not about individual units. Outside of STs though we did. Its the same argument as the fake puts in the other game. Fins fans were saying the same thing then.
I'm talking about on O and D. Your O had 104 total net yards, ours had almost 400. Our STs and the fumble blew it, we gave you 3 Tds by making our STs look like your and your like like ours. Ginn is a terrible NFL return man and we made him look like Leon. STs are clearly part of the game but how often do you see 2 KRs for a TD and a defensive TD?
I would say no, your O had ONE drive all game and you fumbled on that drive only to have the ball given back to you. Our D dominated your O.
Your missing the point. The Jets dominated TOP in the second half because the Dolphins didn't have the ball. They got the ball and had one real drive and scored a TD off it. If Ginn doesn't return it twice do the Dolphins score on those 2 possessions as they did on the following? Stats are a consequence of the way the game played out, not a cause.
How often do you see a team hold the ball for 45 minutes and lose? You sound like Ryan. You made Ginn look like Leon? Who else did you make look good?
They didn't show the replay on the game. They started to but Miami snapped the ball. I couldn't say if it was a fumble or not. Basing on what's in hear and what I am hearing on the FAN in New York, I'd say that's a big mistake. But Sparano made one as well though it didn't turn out to be costly in the end.
They had a few real drives and were stuffed twice and score once after they lost a fumble that wasn't called a fumble. Yes they get nmore possessions if the 3 D/Stys scores don't happen but our D thoroughly dominated them all game long. We didn't open up the O until we got behind thanks to the D/STs TDs and maybe that does not happen w/o those scores but w/o those scores we are winning that game. It's amazing we had a chance giving up 21 pts on D/STs. Rex said he got bad info from upstairs that Miami had recovered it and credit Miami for getting on the ball and snapping it quickly not giving Rex time to challenge. We are the only team that make Ginn look like an NFL player. a few weeks ago he burned us deep which never happens against anyone else and this week mr. 20 yds per KR returns not one but two against one of the best Kick coverage teams in the NFL. You guys won, it doens't matter how you won but you must admit it was a fluky win. The better team won in Miami, the better team did not win yesterday but that doesn't matter, you take wins any way you can get them.
dude you won the game, but please we made that offense look anemic yesterday. Really anemic. The numbers certainly do not reflect that we made Henne look horrible and stuffed your offense.
This is actually a good point, whenever you get TD's off D and special teams the O losses statistic opportunities and TOP to the other team.
We'll have to agree to disagree then. You dominated them in the first half no doubt. But they had a 3 and out then the explosion, followed by an 8 minute drive. Half time adjustments that they didn't get to use until the 4th quarter. I don't know if they would have scored if Ginn is stopped. Nor do you. My point is that the Dolphins won the game. The Jets didn't give it to us and to think that is wrong IMO. I'm not trying to take anything away from the Jets performance yesterday, but I think you are selling the Dolphins short on credit.
