I never thought in a million years that I'd find myself creating such a thread, but the "little big man" really held his own today. I'm not saying that he alone helped contain the running game, but I don't think that it's a stretch to say that he had what was probably his best game as a Jet.

Anyone else notice the same? Granted, it looks as though the lightbulbs were switched "on" for a couple of players, including Ellis, but Pouha really showed something this afternoon.

Now we just need to see some consistency.

He came ready to play. If he can play like this for the rest of the season, our defense will be in pretty good shape

The Jenkins injury hurt a lot less today than I would have expected, and the coaches get a whole lot of credit for that too (as well as people like Ellis and Pouha). Unfortunately, it's hard to believe that Pouha can replace Jenkins at that level for the entire second half of the season, so I do see some run defense stinkers probably on the horizon.

I noticed that Pouha, along with the rest of our D-line, man handled Miami's O-line with ease.

Howard Green played great too. Defense seems to be picking up the slack for Jenkins so far.

Pouha didn't play too bad last week, either. I think Jenkins taught him a lot. He was drafted as a project. It just took longer than expected, (partially due to losing a year with a knee) but I'm glad we have him on the roster. I'm not sure he should be pulled on passing downs either. The middle gets soft on draw and delay plays when he's out.

The D really did it's job today, but it's always something...

Yeah, hats off to Pouha, I also credit Rex and Pettine to putting their players in positions to succeed. Mangini would have just plugged in Pouha in Jenkin's exact role, Ryan/Pettine figured out how to use him.

I can just picture him midway thorugh the first quarter thinking... "oooooooooohhhh, so this ISN'T a volleyball team!" Let's just hope he remembers it for the next couple of games :p

The D-line played well today... I liked both Pouha and Green.

The defense basically hasn't missed a beat without Jenkins. That's what's great about this defense, it's not about one or two players, it's a system and it's flexible and gets the most out every player. Other then the first Miami game the defense has been great. Imagine how good it will be after Rex has a year to add/subtract personnel to fix some holes? Imagine when players like Lowery, Westerman and others develop within the system? The defense is already in line with the elite defenses in the league.

Great to see him stepping up. The fact that our D shut down Miami like that without Jenks after getting mauled by them when we did have Jenks definitely pays homage to our backups.

I agree strongly with this. Ryan and Pettine called a lot more 4 man fronts than we're used to seeing so Pouha didn't have as much responsibility. And to Pouha's credit he did a very good job taking care of the jobs given to him, as did Howard Green. The defense deserves a lot of credit for playing like they did yesterday after Miami embarrassed them just a few weeks ago.

As hated as Pouha has been with fans, he has actually played very well all year while filling in for Jenkins. You couldn?t notice a big drop off.

I read in the off season he lost 20 pounds . He does seem to be quicker
