I was shocked that he was still available. There's still a ton of 3-4 talent left. It's surprising how this draft is playing out.
I'll tell you what, I was mightily impressed with Jones yesterday. I watched the first 2.5 quarters of the Cuse-Cincy game and Jones was taking double teams all day, and on two straight 3rd downs on the same drive, they only blocked him with one guy and he torched him and got 2 sacks. after the first sack, Cuse was called for a personal foul (some DB) and that kept the drive alive, so next third down Jones just did it again!
I think that we may be either A, overestimating the need for 34 players or just DL in general in our projections, or B, not quite understanding the need for these players in the mock. OR, we're right on, which would be one hell of a good thing for the New York Jets.
The most intriguing thing to me is the talent could be had at Rush LB as the draft goes along. Everyone has high thoughts on a lot of these guys because opinions are so varied, but there's going to be some serious talent available in the 3rd/4th round.
No question!! The problem I'm facing in this draft, when my team goes OTC, I'm passing up some great players that don't fit the system or isn't a need at all, or a similar player was drafted in Rd 1.
Arizona takes Wootton.......could use a 3-4 end, opposite Dockett , I'm not high on Campbell and branch can be moved inside to make him more versatile.
hoping to have one or two picks in those rounds the way this new draft will be divided (Day1: rd 1, day2: rd 2 & 3, day 3: ...) teams will have one more night to re-evaluate the talent that has fallen out of the first 3 rds and this will make rd 4 way more important IMO. Example: With this new format I don't know if we'd have done the Greene trade at the top of rd 3. The new format pushes the issue one rd later where it should be more difficult to evaluate talent and wether it's worthy of a trade.
As I continue to pick off MR E's favorite players, Norwood is a stud, and is a Patriots type player for Pioli to grab out in KC.
I was probably going to draft him for the Jets...great pick - Norwood never quits on a play. I went drafted Lawrence Marsh for the Jets. At this point in the draft, Marsh is my highest rated 3-4 lineman. One of the more athletic defensive tackles in college football. Urban Meyer's Gator defensive line is ridiculously talented.
I had Lawrence Marsh in a mock of mine just when the season started. I havent seen him play much this year -- Florida is using Trattou in between Dunlap & Cunningham. I guess when combine starts, Marsh will assume his place amongst the better 3-4 DEs.
Marsh has missed most of the season with an ankle injury...that's why Trattou is in the starting lineup. He's finally healthy though.
Not really, just an insurance policy...I'm not a big McCoy fan. You never know McCoy may be a decent NFL...worth a chance in Rd 3.
Guys...I have to leave for about 30 to 40 minutes........have to run a quick errand. Be back soon...I'll have KC's pick ready to go.
I was probably going to draft Odrick with Oakland's third rounder, but GH took him the pick before. Alex Carrington will a replace Richard Seymour, who will most definitely get the hell out of Oakland.
