I asked my rep if anything opens up lower in my lower level section because of this to add me to some list. He said that's what they're doing, anyone that calls up and requests something different they will note your account. I wanted to make sure someone whose just buying now since its open to the public 11/1 doesn't get what I want. He assured me that wouldn't happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if they used the closer ones to offer to people on the fence.
absolutely they are gonna sell the better seats to a newbie b/c they want his money. they got ours already.why would they hurt themselves by upgrading you or me???
It's okay if you don't want to believe what I've been saying about how the prices have increased and then extrapolate that into future occurance. You seem to want to assign business logic to it. I am telling you that when we were 4-12 the ticket price still went up the next year by over 10%, so try not to think too business-like here. I know it doesn't make "business sense," but it took place nonetheless. You seem to be in denial about this. You seem to think that it won't happen again. But that's okay. I've talked 'till I'm blue in the face about this and many have taken it at face value. I won't be able to convince 100% of the readers here, and you are one of them... and that's okay, it really is. And for you sake, I hope what you are hoping for (very little increase) will take place. That would be nice. But you're dealing with a rattlesnake here. It is not without coincidence that there is no mention whatsoever in any of the literature about prices remaining stable. There's a reason why the Jets have not said anything about that. The seats that have been reduced from $400 ro (I think) $275. Look for those to be on the hit list. People moving into them now do so at extreme peril if they're not prepared for those seats to escalate dramatically. I am guessing at a rate north of 10% per year... probably more like 15%-18% per year. And in the future, a ticketholder dare not question why either, because it will be politely explained that the Jets did them a favor 2-3 years ago by "letting them" have those "introductory prices." At 15%-18% per year, Woody can probably double those $275 seats in only 5 years or so. It's okay if there are some who don't want to believe this, but it's based on past fact. This is not something I made up... ask any Mezz ticketholder. And no, it made no "business sense" then either, and I kept on asking myself all those above objections that you have presented, i.e., "they can't continue to do this as a business model.... the demand doesn't warrant it... we're only 4-12, surely they won't do it again this year... the market will not support it again... " etc., etc. But it happened. So, caveat emptor. No one has to read my posts about this. I'm not sure why some on here are loathe to hear about this or irritated to think it could happen. One would think they'd be grateful for the warning....
Bingo. That's the business model. And now you're talking. There's no incentive to spend hours and hours of the valuable reps time (time that could be spent porking other newbies) having them call back the stupid bastards who've already committed. Why would you want to do that? We already have your money. On to the next sucker. "But you promised me you wouldn't bite me," said the little boy to the snake. "I know I did, but I AM a snake, you know!"
Newbies But remember, Newbies maybe be Oldbies. The deposit I gave in is FULLY REFUNDABLE on MY Upper Deck Tickets. If better UD becomes available on-line this week only to newbies I will just buy two more seats in my kids name and ask for my money back on my current two seats. All of us can do this, welcome to musical chairs. UD Prime moves to Club, you move to UD Prime a Newbie Moves to your old UD seats.
BTW I said some bad things about PSLs on the insidejets thread and they banned me. Turns out if you say anything bad you get banned. This buy SAR who pushes Jets like a timeshare real estate agent on coke had front row PSLs from Jets on aisle and pictures with Woody. That site must be owned by Jets. Everyone who says a bad thing gets banned. PSLs are great, PSLs are great take all our money we Love you woody, everyone cheer!!!
You have got to be kidding me! That's reason Number One for not going to that site. I wonder how many of those IJ assholes have secretly snuck over here, read these posts about the PSLs and have gone, "Hmmmmm... WTF did I get myself into?" Buyer's remorse = pissed off people.
I used to think you were an uninformed jackass of a 2009 Front Row Newbie with nothing to offer. Now I just think you're a 2009 Front Row Newbie. You're moving up in the world. Seriously, that's a pretty good thought, and it ought to be enough (if the Jets think it through also) to keep the Ticket Office honest and go through the seniority list the way they should. Maybe, after all this shuffling, my seats will improve slightly between now and kickoff, 2010.
i try to improve almost every other day. my rep has got to be sick of me... its like being at a general admission concert. and you just try and jockey for the best spot until the band comes on.
i seriously look at the seats constantly and i am not satisfied with what i have.i email my rep call me i am an annoying SOB.
If anyone can change it, it'll be 17a. He is one persistant SOB. They shouldn't do it based on that, by the way. No one should be allowed to be a constant pain in the ass and get a better seat just by virtue of being a constant pain in the ass, but the squeaky wheel does sometimes get the grease. I'm glad he posts honestly, because if he does happen to get lucky and get a move, we'll know about it, and then I'LL be a consistant pain in the ass too.
Why on green earth would anyone move from the best seats in the house--those in the 1st four rows uppers inbetween the 40's , to some lower/mezz corner seats? The lower/mezz corner seats have a worse view and are more expensive to boot. No one in their right mind would consider that move. Please.
I'm not saying ticket prices won't increase , I know they will. The point is will the Jets go overboard with increases when there's no demand. Fans will tolerate small increases , but large increases in this economic cilmate will cause fans to abandon ship. What I'm saying is in the past there was a waiting list for tickets , so the Jets didn't fear losing ticketholders due to price as there was many more who would jump to buy their seats. Now that model has changed, the waiting list has been exhausted , they are opening up sales to the public for 2010. If ticketholders drop now , they may have a hard time replacing that revenue. I'm not sure what you don't understand about that - its simple supply and demand. Your trying to create an artificial coorelation between ticket prices and the teams record. The teams record means very little as long as there was still a demand for tickets (waitlist). People who were waiting for tickets didn't care that last years Jets were 4-12 they were just glad their number came up on the waitlist. For 2010 no more waitlist - no more demand. If the Jets piss off an already pissed off fan base with large ticket increases - where do they go to replace that ticket revenue when fans walk away.
I agree with you, however a World Series ticket shouldn't cost the same as a preseason upper deck seat. My upper deck seat will jump from $75 in 2009 to $95 in 2010. That's about a 27% increase in price and if you figure I was paying $70 in 2007 that's about a 35% increase over 3 years. In 2007 my Yankees season were $18 each and for 2009 and 2010 were $20 each. It's nowhere close to a 35% increase in price. That's the beef I have.
New people? What new people? 22,000 unsold PSLs and who knows how many unsold club seats. Those 22,000 unsold PSLs are probably the $10, $15 and $20k PSLs to.
senority is dead. PSL owners, the more expensive the seats and more you bought rule. UD EZ people are to the Jets like a bum who pan handles on the corner of Wall and William street saying he works on wall street. Yea we are in the stadium but we are as they say in baseball bleacher bums. Betcha Jets never thought they would have seats left in UD when they went on sale to General Public. Actully General Public sale is BS, on Friday anyone calling could of bought tickets, My friend inquired about a PSL and they were going to sell it to him.
I never surmised someone would give up something in the first four rows of the uppers, I only questioned what happens to ANY seats given up between the 40s. So, the last "PLEASE" belongs in your court. It's quite conceivable that someone would give up Row 8 in my section, for example, and I am in Row 16. My question was, what are the Jets doing about making this a fair transition for someone like myself looking to upgrade? It's a fair question. I believe Row One answered the question already though, after calling his rep. The request for the upgrade will SUPPOSEDLY be noted on your account. BFD. I'm really comfortable with it being a notation on my account. I guess that's the best we can ask for at this point, however.
