~ ~ Offensive Player of the Week

Shonn Greene, RB, New York Jets

When Leon Washington was lost for the season with a broken leg at Oakland, Jets fans re-familiarized themselves with a player from Iowa they'd seen carry the ball only seven times this season. The Jets used most of their draft currency to move up for Mark Sanchez at No. 5, so the team's first pick after him was Greene at 65, at the start of the third round. All Greene did at Oakland was rush 19 times for 144 yards, a 7.6-yard average, with two touchdowns. They'll need him for the rest of the season to take the load off Thomas Jones.

He's a bust, otherwise he would have had 244 yards on 10 carries.

With Leon going down, the trade up for Greene looks pretty good right now. Hopefully he can stay healthy.

And what the FUCK is the Shonn Greene department? This isn't JC Penny's.

I'll take 601 yards on the season. If he can rack up the same yards against an NFL team, not the Raiders, then I'll cut him some slack.

I didn't think his college footage showed anything that would translate well over to the NFL, but so far he's proving me wrong. Kudos for him.

I'm going to go a bit higher, he has 9 more games and w/o Leon I think he will average 60-65 yds per game ... or about another 550 yds ... Just my opinion, but he hits the hole hard and manages to get yds after the initial hit, I think that will translate to 60+ yds per game

Nice to see a RB that can run through players, reminds me of guys like John Riggins and Jim Brown, well what I got to see of them in highlight reels.

I wonder how many women are lined up outside the Shonn Greene dept. after that performance?
