It's too soon to blame Rex's camp but under herm we had one really bad injury year. Under Mangini we had a bad injury year in 2007, luck pays a big part in this stuff. How is being in shape going to help avoid a broken leg? How will it help avoid a torn knee? Outside of Cotch our guys aren't pulling muscles.
Well put:up: This team was also winded 1/2 through the season and Mangini is 1 - 6 with the Sh*t Stains, so big deal. This team plays HARD and therefore injuries come with the territory when you do.
If you don't block and tackle you can rduce the amount of contact injuries dramatically. We came out of Oakland healthy last year with a big L. By the way didn't Eric cover up an injury to a guy named Favre last year and didn't Pennington and Clemens get hurt in 07? I guess QB injuries don't count in your book.
What happened to Leon was a freak thing that just happens in the NFL. You can't train extra to to prevent a broken leg.
Because being in good shape helps you to avoid being rolled up on from behind. Plus it makes bones stronger, they don't break. Whatever. Sorry, but this thread sucks.
And of course nobody works harder than Jerrico Cotchery, so the hamstring isn't a result of conditioning. Injuries are part of the game, you either stay healthy or you don't. Unless you run a country club of a camp nothing that you do is going to influence injuries much one way or the other, they're just going to bite hard every 3rd or 4th year and you have to grin and bear it and try to hold up anyway. That's why quality depth is one of the most important characteristics that a good team has.
I believe guys played with what normally would be 1 or 2 week injuries as Mangini would not report and properly and if they did not play they felt as if they come across as pussies. The biggest example of this with was Kris Jenkins had pretty severely injured hip from the denver game. He is not even listed on monday, does not practice all week plays on sunday and and look bad. During game when he would take more plays off then usual we all would bash he was fat out of shape etc... imagine sitting out and an injury not reported you would get crucified even more. David Harris had a severe groin injury, never specified but groin injury, sat 3 weeks, played one, then surgery out 4 and back again never same player. Dude the guy had a sports hernia I guarantee thing that keeps player out for 8 -10 weeks sometimes, he is racing back on two occassions because its not listed properly and he comes off like a wimp for not playing.
james davis is out for the year because the cleveland COACHING STAFF let him participate in a tackling drill, w/o pads, against someone in pads ... mangini really knows how to keep his players healthy
Believe me, when shit is bad I want to blame the coaches for everything, but as has been said so many times in this thread already, broken legs and ACL injuries just don't count. Those are contact injuries....Maybe Rex should have dove in front of Leon and taken the brunt of the hit with his man-titties.
Man, did you ever deserve torching for creating a thread like this. You're rapidly becoming the guy everyone just sh!ts on for the helluva it. Do yourself a favor and think thru your topics a bit longer before starting threads. While you're at it, please remember that Vern changed his number to 50 as well. Just trying to help...
You know that this post is going to get destroyed by everyone else......oh wait, everyone is aleady calling you a shmuck. Never mind.
