So true. Per Shefters twitter again: RT @fb_outsiders Leon Washington's fractured fibula isn't death knell. Darren Sproles returned from fractured fibula in 2006 and is fine.
This is the same gamble that collegians take when they don't go pro. Leon and his agent gambled but they didn't account for Fate. As it stands, next season is Leon's best chance to get a good contract from the Jets or he might wind up as the new Lamont Jordan..
Ain't this just our luck? Demolish the Raiders, but lose Leon Washington for the season. AAArrrgghhh!!!!.....
This sucks! I just got back from the bar wathching the game. It did not look good when he went down. Leon is one of my favorite players and a good asset to the Jets. On a positve note Greene looked great. 300 +yards in back to back game. Sanchez did not turn the ball over. I hope Leon gets healthy for next season and has a monster year. Go! Jets!
Everybody on TV is saying "out for season". If there's a chance he could be back for what promises to be a tough last quarter of the season, that would actually be positive news.
so what happens with leon and his contract? will the jets still pay him? they better! you cannot let an injury prevent you from signing one of your best players.
That would be awesome if he could be back sometime this season. When I saw him go down I thought he tore a ligament for sure.
Running Backs shouldn't walk away from guaranteed money. They get hurt and have shorter careers than any other position in the NFL. Hopefully Leon gets patched up and is back in uniform in 6-7 weeks.
I love all these "they should still pay him" assholes. Even though Curtis has no knees, we should pay him. And even though Chrebet's brain is mush, we should pay him. Don't let common sense get in the way doing the "decent" thing. Ass clowns. They should offer him $2 mil a year and he should be thankful.
Exactly. Dude gambled and lost. I'm sure he'd be the first one to man up and admit it. edit: missed this part Disagree. He'll be back strong as ever next year. I say $4 mil.
They should offer him a 1-year deal with performance incentives. Anyhting for more than 1 year would be dumb.
Leon isn't one of our best 2 players. Maybe top 5. 1)Revis 2)Jenkins 3)Mangold 4)Bart Scott 5)D Harris 6) B. Edwards 7)Dustin Keller / Leon(special teams) I ranked them by how irreplaceable they are to what we do and how they would be valued by other teams. Revis is the top corner in football> From Rex's mouth"There are only a couple of Kris Jenkins in the league. Mangold is universally considered a blue chipper, ALL-Pro. Bart Scott was offered big money from more than us. D Harris is the most underrated player on the team(tackles leader) B. Edwards is a rare talent we haven't had in years. Keller is a playmaker that has been keyed on by every team we play(Think if he got hurt, we don't have TE that can run a pass pattern) . Leon is a great change of pace back and terrific pass catcher, but his real value has been as a returner.
