I know. but that kid is notorious for getting "off" on being the first to start threads.......it's comical.
I am not a huge believer in Clowney despite the Miami game. I remain skeptical. Yes, that was a huge play that Clowney took off Miami. Thrilling, really. But the other three plays, all in the second quarter, btw, were much less so. Two were with Miami running a prevent with time running out of the first half, and Miami holding the Jets to a field goal, out of the shotgun, on first and second downs (interestingly the type of play that some here have criticized the Jets for running at all). The other was earlier in the quarter with, again, the Jets in a shotgun, but at least that was on third down, and they converted. Those four catches are the grand total of all Clowney catches so far this year, and they came against Miami?s mediocre pass D. In short, I have not jumped on the Clowney bandwagon yet. Here?s the plays: 2nd quarter 3-9-MIA 27 (2:48) (Shotgun) 6-M.Sanchez pass short left to 87-D.Clowney to MIA 22 for 5 yards (21-V.Davis). 1-10-MIA 43 54) (Shotgun) 6-M.Sanchez pass short right to 87-D.Clowney to MIA 35 for 8 yards (25-W.Allen). 2-2-MIA 35 34) (No Huddle, Shotgun) 6-M.Sanchez pass short right to 87-D.Clowney to MIA 29 for 6 yards (25-W.Allen). 4th quarter 1-10-NYJ 23 (14:11) 6-M.Sanchez pass deep left to 87-D.Clowney to MIA 24 for 53 yards (37-Y.Bell).
He's started 2 games. Mia and Buf. I don't understand what any of this has to do with the Clown not being thrown the ball when he was open against Buffalo. Seafood is right, you can't catch what isn't thrown to you. He was open and didn't get the ball. Not his fault. I've never seen him drop a ball in a game that matters.
We are going to need a wr this off season. Brad smith sucks and its not look good for clowney. We need depth
To quote yourself... you can't drop what isn't thrown to you . I think Clowney not getting the ball wa prob more Sanchez's fault than his... I've seen Leon open on a couple of INT's and Mark still tried to force it to Edwards.
Brad Smith might suck but we sure missed him and Trusnik on ST against the Bills. I was all for getting rid of him at the beginning of this season but now without him and Trusnik I understand why he is on the team... much like I understand why Wright is on it. I do think we need an extra WR (we do have Allison on the IR) and next year I think we'll get one... seeing how things turned out with Stuckey I'm unhappy we didn't get Wade after the Vikings cut him.
Clowney will get some passes thrown to him this week. Listening to the press conferences, it seems like Clowney was open on some plays and Sanchez was eying Edwards the whole time and forced in some throws.
Well I don't have access to the coaches film, but I know he was open on the last INT Sanchez threw. Watch the highlights for that. Listen to the Sanchez presser for him talking about not throwing to an open Clown as well.
Here's what we do know about Clowney--he's very fast and aginst the next level down from NFL starters he's been dominant. Not just good, he's been ridiculous two years in a row. That leads me to believe if he's made the strides the coaching staff says he has in practice and around the job, there's no reason not to put him out there, throw him the ball and see if he can't be at least good. Even if that means against starters he's not scorching them all for deep touchdowns, he could be a weapon we haven't had to perfectly compliment Cotchery, Keller and Edwards in the passing game. It would open things up for those guys as well as Jones and Leon in the running game. The little bit we've seen, the few passes and one deep ball they threw him, he caught.
Really a shame. Cotchery is easily Sanchez's favorite target. He seems to stare down Edwards when Cotch isn't in the game.
Yeah, I really wish Cotchery was playing. We need Sanchez to feel comfortable back there, and Cotchery has been his go to WR for the first 3 weeks.
Might not be a bad thing for Sanchez to have to go without him and learn the other receivers. He needs to stop forcing it to Edwards though.
Not having J-Co is huge. If Mark has his eyes pinned on Braylon all day again like he did against Buffalo, he will double his INT total from last week. Nnamdi Asomougha, the BEST CORNERBACK IN FOOTBALL (unless you're a homer Jet fan and think Revis is better) will be blanketing Braylon all day.
again, NNamdi doesnt blanket anyone.. your the same guy at the beggining of the season said revis was overrated.
He is over-rated. Big time. A Rex Ryan defense will hide his flaws even more. The guy had one good year. Awesome. Now he'll be hidden even more, but then again, not even Rex's defense could hide him from Ted Ginn. He's good, but Nnamdi good? Nuh-uh.
