if you were rex, what would you do to salvage our season while it is still young?

how can we change or modify our defense, now that jenks is done?
what the hell do we do to our offense now that sanchez has played the worst game of his career?
    lineup changes?

just looking to find something worth chatting about with all that has gone wrong in the last 3 games.
i must admit, even though most think of me as a darksider, i had a lot of hope and faith in this current team that seems to be withering with each advancing week. maybe we will get some breaks now that we have played 6 games without getting any.

Mix in a lot more 4-3 fronts and focus on stopping the run. Teams will try to exploit the run with Jenks out, we need to be one step ahead.

i agree with that one for sure, its like you read my mind. which linebacker has to sit, even if for only a few plays a game? i really feel that with jenks out, the 3-4 is useless, unless green or pouha start playing like jenks, which they wont.

i think without big jenks our d will still be solid...i think rex will use howard green, devito pioha on rotation which should keep them fresh...and as far as sanchez, we still need more players around him to step up (cough DUSTIN KELLER)...also, it would be nice to get cotchery back from injury so we have a proven receiver, cuz if u guys think clowney is the answer, youre wrong

Pouha is awful. As for Mike DeVito, I haven't see enough, but I don't think he's anything more than a backup at best.

I guess you adjust your defensive scheme any way you can to try to offset the loss of Jenkins. Perhaps play more of a 4-3?

One thing he mentioned he was going to do was to keep a good rotation going to keep everyone fresh. As an o-lineman I know it's more difficult to block different guys all the time as you don't get a chance to really zone in on how they play. It's also tough when you're in there all game and wearing down and they throw a fresh body in front of you.

As for the technical details, I have no clue. I'm sure Rex has been brewing some things up though. It will be interesting to see how the season plays out. This will be a good test of his abilities as a DC.

i forgot to mention...STOP THE PENALTIES....3rd and 4 in OT...jones runs for 8 yds for a 1st down to the bills 22 yd line...what happens?...HOLDING on Hartsock!...people can blame sanchez all they want but the penalties are what killed us...if it wasnt for that penalty we would have won the game, cuz we were moving well on that drive.

These two games are MUST wins.. and likely to decide our season. If we lose to the Raiders than we have lost 4 in a row. If we lose to the Dolphins than we lost to another divisional team.

bt definitely goes to the bench.he could also bench douglas and play e.smith in a olb role.so a 4-3 could look like this
    ellis pioha green pace/gholston/bt
    e.smith d.harris b.scott
whick wouldn't be bad you put enough beef up front to hold againsst the run and also drop pace in coverage on zone blitz.rex will come up with something we'll be ok.
    edited for mixup thanx jetsyanks

The one thing we have in our favor is Ryan has never been a strict 4-3 /3-4 type of coach . Even with the Ravens they mixed it up all the time. I'm confident he'll mix it up enough to slow down the run - my only fear with more 4-3 is will our OLB's be fast enough in coverage .

I believe this to be true, also. Penalties have been killing us in the last three games and probably cost us to lose in at least two of them. This team lacks discipline, and these penalties prove it. What do we average, 7 per game now? This seemed like a problem from the very first preseason game, but you'd think C-Rex would have the players iron out at least half of them by now. Like I said, no discipline, and if Ryan can't eliminate this problem, he'll be sent packing in a year or two.

I believe we need to go 4-3 at this point in the season with Jenkins out because, you know they'll try to run up the middle more with our big NT gone for the year. And what's going on with Gholston? I hardly ever see him on the field. Why isn't he more active in the defense? Is this guy a bust or what?

Who do you mean by Howard? Howard Green? You have Green as part of the 4-3 you suggested. I also don't think that Smith is strong enough for the lb position. They'd run it to his side all day. I think the 4-3 should be

    Ellis Pouha Green Douglas
    Pace Harris Thomas

    He's definitely more a 3-4 ILB than a MLB in a 4-3 .

The key is the DL keeping blockers from reaching the 2nd level , if they can keep the LBer's relatively clean - there will be no problem. But if our DE's start biting too far upfield and our interior line gets pushed back - our LBers could have a much tougher time.

We can't overlook the Raiders RB's as both Fargas and Bush are pretty tough between the tackle runners. But as long as we keep them in 3rd and longer type scenarios - I like our chances .
