That was obvious...wonder if we'll see a lot more 4-man fronts?

Also reported, Ellis forced to eat 3 large pizzas a day. We will see if it works.

That wouldn't even be an issue at all if the NFL would stop drug testing the man and let him smoke all the weed he wants to smoke!

Moose, I was thinking the very same thing. I believe we will have to show some 4 -3 formations from this point out. I don't believe a full-fledged change is in order, at least as a change of pace so the offense has something else to worry about. 2 more games until the bye. Quite possible a change is in order.

Ryan is the defensive guru. Now we will see him earn his pay.

Obviously the Jets don't think very highly of Green. I really don't see how you guys will be able to put up much resistance on the front line. I'm an outsider and only follow the Jets because they're my best friends team and I love giving him hell. But from my perspective, it seems you don't have the personnel to run a 4-3 and without Jenkins, Pouha is the only guy who can fill in decently at NT and he can't play every snap without wearing down. I just don't like how the rest of the season might play out for the Jets.

Confusing post. You say we can't run a 4 -3 without Jenkins. We run a 3 - 4 with Jenkins. I think they may run a 4 -3 but am merely speculating. Jenkins usually gets double and tripled which leaves the LB's to make the plays. Pouha or Devito will not get that type of respect.

I've seen the Jets switch up to a lot of 4 man fronts but I don't think it'd be very effective because you guys don't have any guys on the line that can get to the QB because you're built for the 3-4. But I also don't think the 3-4 will be effective. I really believe Jenkins is the one guy the team absolutely couldn't afford to lose....bigger than Revis or Harris.
I'm also wondering what you guys think of Bart Scott so far, relative to his contract. It doesn't seem like he's been making plays and I haven't seen many complaints besides the Miami game when everybody was AWOL.

Bart Scott > Eric Barton. Enough said.

By the way, Ellis and Thomas have been known to reach the QB as DE's in a 4 -3 scheme. Food for thought.

Last time I saw Howard Green he was on hands and knees after Jake Long looked at him sideways. Got cut the next morning.

I think so. I am surprised we haven't tried to pick up a young late round pick from someone's practice squad.

Yeah, that's all that really matters. How much everybody is getting paid doesn't phase me.

Thomas was a poor 4-3 DE. He only had "success" when we switched to the 3-4.

Eh, I wouldn't say that. Revis turns Hall of Fame receivers into JAG's for 60 minutes. And frankly, I'm nervous about this team's prospects without Jenx, but if we lost Nick Mangold for the year, I'd probably take up Sunday golf.

I disagree. Jenkins was the most important player on this team. Now, it is true that he doesn't play every down, so maybe a guy like Mangold makes a bigger impact over the full game, but Jenkins is the guy we could least afford to lose.

When Jenkins initially got injured, I could only imagine how long Green thought it would take for Tanny to call him up. I'm glad they re-signed him with no trouble because of his abrupt release.
