For those who are worried about Sanchez, I think we could look back at another QB who had a horrible season as a rookie. 26 TDs, 28 INTs, Sacked 22 times and the team went 3-13...That QB was none other than Peyton Manning and the Colts. So, eventhough many have named him Sanchize, he needs to earn it. This is a new team, new coach, new system with a rookie QB in one of the biggest markets. I know we all want this team to be great (and I'm a long suffering fan)...but it takes time to build chemistry. Yes we got off the a fast start...we did the same in Mangina's first season. Rome wasn't built in a day...BUT...it was built.
The Saints game, well he didn't play well, but our defense kept it close. Miami game, Sanchez and the offense played well to keep it close, because our defense went from a grade A to an F. So, Sunday he sucked it up. This team needs to get back to playing like they did the first 3 games. I didn't expect the Jets to win every game, but this is the AFC East and anything is possible.. And F the Pats for putting up 59 points on the Titians.. BILLIDICK>
Not only has this exact comparison been made 87000 times on here, what exactly is the comparison outside of the shitty stats? If you're going to try and make a comparison, at least put some effort into it and try to make some sense. Not to mention, Sanchez is on pace for a MUCH worse stat line than Peyton Manning had on a MUCH worse team. The very simple argument that wouldn't make sense anyway isn't even a good comparison. Manning Sucked his rookie year + Sanchez sucking his rookie year = Sanchez is great is a terrible argument and conclusion.
The first 3 games were an illusion. The Texans defense was in disarry half the time. Same with the Pats the next week. In these games the QB pressure was minimal. But even when there was a little pressure Sanchez floundered and began fumbling. Sanchez has been exposed and its only going to get worse. He is too inexperienced to be starting. He clearly doesn't understand NFL defenses yet...but he is starting anyhow. What a mess.
Some players that play bad suck at first. Then when they play good they are better. It really depends on if they suck when they play bad or vice versa.
Sanchez would be better compared to the other Manning...in one of the original 3 threads on the matter.
LOL- Yup you're right!! Do you view everything in your life so negatively?? That was some illusion, maybe Mark should move to Vegas. HAHAHA, I just have to laugh at some feeble minded Jet fans. Fire Rex too right??
I actually read some of it now. Houston he had constant pressure and was great on his feet, that's why he looked so great. His 3rd down conversion were crazy good. But keep trying to lie.
These Manning comparisons are all about "whistling past the graveyard." Why not compare him to other young quarterbacks who had similar stats to Sanchez's right now and then were out of the league in a couple of years? Because none of us want to think the unthinkable - Sanchez might not turn out to be a good QB. I think Sanchez will be around for a while, but let's stop trying to measure him against other now successful QBs. He has made some great plays and and some awful plays to this point. Time will tell if he becomes a long term solution for the Jets. In other words, let's look to the future with hope instead of looking to the early performances of future Hall of Famers in a futile attempt to reassure ourselves that Sanchez is the answer. Time will tell.
These Manning comparisons need to stop. I think a better, more realistic comparison is Joe Flacco. Flacco in his first 6 games had 2 TDs and 7 INTs. He also fumbled the ball 7 times, and ironically his team was 3-3 after those six games.
BTW - now that you mention it. Rex's win now attitude is going to set us back years. His trades are starting to prove this. We gave up two talented young players and a possible #2 for a guy to play 3/4 of a season with us. What are we going to build our team with...trading cards?
He only started one year in college. We didn't have much to go on to see if he'd be great or not. Unfortunately he probably could have used another year in college, and that's the truth, but it's entirely too early to give up on him. It's all new, the offense, defense, QB, everything. It's gonna take time. I am happy it's a team to build on.
