No. Ndamukong Suh can play in any scheme. He may not be a true nose tackle, but he has the ability to play end and tackle in our defense. BTW, look up Balitmore's NT Kelly Gregg. He's like 310.
yeah 3-4 end when we have 3 lineman and DT when we have 4 lineman, Ngata has 40 lbs on Suh so there is no comparison between the two. And even if you are right on Suh it doesn't matter because there is no way he will fall to us
Watch the way Suh plays though...they have the same style of play. Both have the ability to take over a game...as a lineman. Freakish athletes for guys their size. It's ridiculous. Suh lining up on the same line as Jenkins would be sick.
Here is the problem though, on occasion lining up at NT sure he could do it hell we had Gholston there at times last week but I would have to seriously question whether he is big enough to hold down NT full term and just gaining weight may effect that athleticism of his, I still remember those concerns with D'Brick and he has still never been able to hold that weight
I wouldn't like to see Suh as a full-time nose tackle. I'd rather have him line up as an end...he'd be very effective there. I think he could hold his own - Nebraska lines up in 3-4 sometimes and Suh holds it down. The guy is constantly double teamed and he still makes a ton of plays.
It still doesn't change the fact that in my initial post I was talking about a 34 Nose tackle and other than Cody from Alabama we are looking at 3rd rounder at best
Look man, our entire defensive line needs to be rebuilt. The Jets have to take the best defensive lineman available, whether it's Carlos Dunlap, Ndamukong Suh, Mount Cody, Arthur Jones, Corey Wootton, or Marvin Austin
What's yer honest, objective opinion of Cody? Do you think he's worth where he'll wind up being drafted? Do you think he'll be less disruptive in the NFL? I heard a commentator (during last week's game) saying something to the tune of Cody's stats being down this year, but he felt that Cody was actually playing better than last year... Idk, that's why I ask (not about stats, bc I know with NTs, stats don't really mean much); when I watch Cody, sometimes I'm wowed, while other times, I'm like, "Eh..." Is he the best 3-4 NT prospect, or is there one that looks more promising?
Oh yeah... And please, don't surrender any more draft picks! This is getting out of hand. If Tannenbaum can pull off a player-for-player deal, then fine. But for the love of god, no more draft picks.
How much value does Thomas Jones have after his 200+ yd performance? He's gone after this year regardless, he might have some value
sure we could add more youth to the Dline I never said that but when our biggest problem as of right now is someone other than Pouha to backup Jenkins the draft has very little for us to choose from.
Yeah I wasn't really just throwing it out there I'd rather just sit on what we have to be honest, we can't afford to give up any more draft picks Or we could give Robertson a call
You're clueless. Bank on Tanny? WHat the heck are you talking about? You're right, we should have never traded up for Revis, or Harris. Damn, why did we even trade up to get Sanchez? And Shone Green while we're at it. oh, and add Braylon also, its not like we needed a no. 1 reciever. Unless Tanny finds something crazy, he's not making a big move for a NT. Maybe a 7th rounder for some backup, but thats about it.
We don't even have a 7th Rounder to trade anymore. And, besides, if that were a consideration, I'd still rather find a FA or possibly a gem off another team's Practice Sqaud.
Whats funny is most people moved to the 3-4 formation away from the 4-3 formation primarily because the 3-4 personnel were (at that time) a lot easier to come by and much cheaper - now everyone is moving to 3-4 and so of course the personnel, especially the big NT, have become incredibly expensive and hard to come by - just switch back to a 4-3 formation and get players accordingly. edit: and ffs stop giving away our draft picks - we are not the 'Skins.
If Mangini trades with us again you can bank on him being run out of Cleveland. I think they'll bring in the CIA to investigate espionage.
That's why you're still a JetFanWaiting. Building a 53man roster one or two players per year while ignoring depth is the quickest way to the SuperBowl. Just think of all those games that Faneca and Jenkins and the other FA's have left in the tank. While we're adding a piece here and there, the rest of the machine is aging slowly but surely. Thank Goodness the Giants never thought of that. Wasting their time holding on to and using their DP's certainly didn't help them at all. It damned near ruined the Patriots.
