I almost dismissed this comment out of hand, but I took an extra 10 seconds to process it, and you know what, this actually makes a lot of sense. There's just no way we're getting a starting-caliber 3-4 NT mid-season, no way at all. And w/out a quality NT, there's just no reason to run a 3-4 at all, the LBs are going to have blockers all over them, and we're going to see a lot of 5~7 yard runs down our throats. Plus, you see a version of the 4-3 at almost every level of football, so I'm pretty sure every defensive player on our team has exposure to it and a transition shouldn't be that difficult... sadly I doubt this actually happens...
Just for a laugh. San Diego Chargers could use a running back since LT ain't doing much and they have one of the worst rushing stats right now.
Alot of the commentators and critics say a quality NT is one if not the hardest positions in the NFL to get. I would say just play the 3-4 still and let the rest of the defense learn the defensive plays more especially if this season is a wash. Gives time for Gladys and other players to get back into the groove of things (if Gladys even had a groove). Just work for next year.
If Rex is really a defensive guru and this Jets team is built around his defense he will know the players available to address the problems.
