No - last year's defense was built around Jenkins. I agree his injury will impact our run D , but I trust that Rex/Pettine will be able to compensate. The key in the NFL is being able to have flebxibility with your schemes - something we're lightyears better than last year in.
At the very least hopefully this will light a fire under our ass. Looks like we lost the killer instinct on D
The season is not over, 10 games left. It will have to be a group effort (as it should be) to get wins now. A good offensive perfomance and a good defensive performance. We haven't had that since Week 1 really, so it will be a challenge.
He's 30, so hopefully he can bounce back. That's an awful big man to rehab though, this clearly sucks balls and many other sucky things.
Yeah, it sucks BIG TIME. Adam_Schefter Filed to ESPN - Jets NT Kris Jenkins tore his ACL. Out for year. Crushing blow to Jets defense.
And so Tannenbaum's decision not to invest in d-line depth comes back to haunt him. That really, really, really sucks. Hopefully the Jets can land someone like Terrance Cody in the draft this spring (and hopefully they aren't picking high enough to get Ndamukong Suh.)
It's all very nice to say that the defense can compensate for his loss, but I see no evidence to suggest that that will happen. I certainly didn't see a season-ending injury, but didn't we expect him to wear down as the season went on, just as we expected Sanchez and Ryan to look like rookies (as they have)? If you think about it, that 7-9 or 8-8 record that looked likely at the beginning of the season still looks reasonable - it's just happened so far in a way that has emphasized euphoria and despair.
Oh hey, Howard Green. Love how Woodhead didn't touch the ball ONCE yesterday, but it was necessary to sign him this weekend and release Green.
