The most worrisome thing for me is he has regressed weekly as opposed to progressed. Not here to bury Sanchez(i did however punch my Fathead in the balls) but the guy has to realize he MUST get rid of the ball instead of taking a sack.
MIAMI!!!!!!!! Did everyone who is saying this watch the Miami game??? Whenever we needed a score we got one. The league is getting more and more film on him, and he has to learn that as well. He is a 22 year old rookie with a very high ceiling.
A few QBs have struggled in their rookie year and then turned out to be SB winning HOF caliber players. However, about 10x more QBs have sucked in their rookie years and turned out to be a complete bust. I don't think this will be the case with Sanchez and I think he will be fine, but I don't think is a good argument
Edwards made him look steller in that game. I know he needs time, believe me, but i'm just saying the fundimental stuff he should have down already.
You guys are seriously insane. If you think Peyton's rookie year is rough, what words do you use to describe what Sanchez has done so far? Peyton's rookie year is one of the better ones, he threw for 26 TDs and over 3700 yards. Do you people honestly think Sanchez will get anywhere close to that? Why can't you people use another person as an example? Sanchez is not Peyton Manning, not even close. Nobody thinks he can develop into that either. Peyton's the best QB of this generation and learned quickly. Seriously if Sanchez can get anywhere near the numbers Peyton did, you'd have to be thrilled and you know you have a potential HOFer at QB. I've set my sights much lower. Hell, Big Ben's rookie campaign was considered great for a rookie, if Sanchez can be like Ben that is fine too. Peyton was on an awful team that was 1-15 the previous year and had a terrible defense. Sanchez, and Big Ben, were both on good teams that have top defenses and good running games. Sanchez should be used like Ben was that year. Also, the Jets have 3 RBs, so use all 3 of them. Why is Greene completely ignored?
nobody compared him to peyton, the point was that if a great qb like that struggled then its natural that a lesser qb would struggle. what's irrational is for some people to be down on sanchez less than halfway through his rookie year. did people not expect him to struggle?
I knew he'd struggle but i thought when he did struggle our coaches would be smart enough to stop giving him opportunities to struggle. We had a lead after the first half we should of just ran the ball around and punted and kept them back in their territory.
I agree 100% with this. I was very surprised they kept at it, especially with the running game going as it was. At the same time when we did run the ball in obvious passing situations fans were booing, so either way Schotty couldn't win, at least from the fans perspective.
Not to rain on the parade but lets be realistic Sanchez is nowhere near the caliber of prospect Peyton was coming out of college. The man has been at worst the 2nd best QB of the past 10 years and Sanchez doesn't have that type of potential. I read others saying compare to Big Ben or last years rookies that's a lot more realistic. Chances of drafting a Peyton Manning type QB is 0.001%.
If Sanchez becomes as good as Ben, Ryan or Flacco I would be extremely happy. Those 3 guys are elite talent.
I think overall Sanchez does have elite talent and can be at worst a top 10 QB in this league. If he doesn't reach that plateau he's a bust and/or the coaching staff failed developing him properly. The only difference between him and say Matt Ryan is that Ryan was a 3 or 4 year starter in college and Sanchez started a whopping 16 college games. Sanchez is as raw as it gets.
my only concern is that we don't have anyone to groom and tutor sanchez. shotty learned Xs and Os from his father, its not like he knows what its like to be a qb. we need an expert to work with sanchez.
The thing that makes football great is sense of not knowing the future. Leinart and Vince young were supposed to be great, drew brees is too short to play qb, what is that bag boy Warner doing winning the superbowl. We don't know what mark sanchez futures, the greatest hope for fans to look for in a rookie qb is one that doesn't make the same mistake repeatedly. I haven't seen sanchez make the same mistake repeatedly. The whole flacco and Ryan is a once in 20 years issue. Let's not forget that in canton, Ohio lay statistics of horrible games played by the greatest qb's of all time.People it takes time to be good or great.
I think that's a fair point. Sanchez does not need to be the next Peyton Manning/Tom Brady/Drew Brees for this to be a successful pick. I would settle for Eli Manning/Donovan McNabb-like performance. Neither of those 2 guys are consistently worldbeaters but they win.
Thanks. One of his 3 wins came against the Jet. How comforting. Sanchez will be much better than what he has shown so far, but can he really not handle the windy weather? I mean if u can't handle such a weather in the NFL, you might as well retire cuz thats all you are going to see in the playoffs. Im just hoping the played his worse game of his career.
