First let me say, Sanchez had a bad day, it's going to happen he's a rookie and Shotty's playcalling didn't help him today. So all this talk of benching Sanchez and drafting another QB (another thread) is Bullsh*t. Mark is our QB for a long time .......deal with it. I'm sick and tired of people posting crap about Sanchez and they have no clue.

So needs are being clearly defined with our lack of depth:

NT.....Another NT is a huge need to spell KJ and Pouha is average at best. Mount Cody will be available if we continue to play the way we have the past 3 weeks.

WR....I said it, sorry some don't agree. BE can't do it by himself with Cotch injuryed. D Williams would be a nice addition. Two very good receivers aren't enough we need another #2a/b to play with BE & Cotch. Why do we have Sanchez if we don't get him weapons? Williams would be a perfect fit. Free Agency is a possibility.

OL...Another RT is a major need and depth at center. If Mangold goes down, we would be screwed. I would love a C/OG to back-up our line.

DE...another edge rusher is a big need.

Good idea for a thread like this WW. This team definitely has some holes...

Marvin Austin has to be considered at this point...especially if he flies up draft boards like he should.

There'd be nothing wrong with drafting another receiver. Some of the best offenses in the league have two elite wideouts.

I'd love to see us make some moves and pick up at least 2 more draft picks.

We have to sign at least 3 players that can play successfully in the 3-4's front seven.

If Sheppard leaves, we need a CB somewhere.....Revis cannot do it alone. Dwight Lowery has been a soldier sometimes but he is more suited as a fine nickel instead of a No.2

I agree with everything you and WW85 said, but are you saying we don't have two elite wideouts right now?

I don't think Lito will be gone. We will let him hit FA, not to pay him 10 mill bonus and he re- ups with GangGreen...ala Vilma.

I won't speak for MR. E. IMO, we have 2 very good WR's, our depth is very shaky....we witnessed that today. I wish Mangini took Clowney over Stuckey.

Cotchery is a great possession guy and Edwards looks like a huge pick up, but drafting a young receiver couldn't hurt.

I think it's out of the question with the Edwards trade though.

I'm going to use the Colts as an example - that offense is built the right way. Before Reggie Wayne, Anthony Gonzalez, Joseph Addai, Donald Brown, and Dallas Clark was selected, Manning still had very good stats with an elite receiver in Marvin Harrison and a bunch of role players like Jerome Pathon, Ken Dilger, Marcus Pollard, and Terrence Wilkins.

As much as I hate to make this comparison, the 2009 Jets' offense is eerily similar to Colts' offense a decade ago, except we already have a pass catching tight end in Dustin Keller.

Cotchery = Harrison (a move the chains type of wideout)
Edwards = Wayne (big play wideout)
Keller = Clark (pass catching tight end)

We already have a lot of good players in the place on this offense - Mark Sanchez just needs some time to develop into a pro quarterback.

I know Rex Ryan wants a defensive team, but the smart way to build a team is around its quarterback. It looks like we already some good weapons in place, right? Get him some more. Peyton Manning is the best passer in the league and he's even better because of his supporting cast.

Rex will convince a good Free Agent receiver to join the Jets.

I think it'd be nice to pick up a WR later on in the draft, sort of like Johnny Knox in the 5th round, but anything high I think is a little crazy, unless there's a no brainer receiver sitting there.

Definitely agree with the NT though, doesn't necessarily have to be Mount Cody (although that'd be extremely nice) since I think Jenkins still has several dominant years left in him, especially if we get someone who could take a significant % of his snaps.

DE and OL help is something we MUST get. If we don't get another RT (woody seems to be injured fairly often) then we're going to have major protection and running problems next year. It'd also be nice to get another guard since Faneca is obviously getting older and older.

As long as Sanchez progresses throughout the season, we'll be able to bring in a decent free agent wideout.

I'd like to see us go NT and WR in the first 2 rounds. If we're around the 10-15 range, Mt. Cody is definitely an option. I like this Draft:

    1) Terrence Cody. Big time NT. Definitely a project, but we need a NT badly.

    2) DeMaryius Thomas. Dwayne Bowe-like. Physical freak, but he might not be here in the middle of the 2nd.

    4) Best available OL. Woody and Faneca are old, definitely need to replenish our OL.

If we could get Cody in rd 1, I'd be estatic.

Corey Wooton would be a nice addition in rd 2.......the Jets haven't addressed D-Line in the draft in a while.

All our needs won't be met in this draft unless we trade back for more picks.

Free Agency will fill some needs, but you sometimes overpay in FA. The CBA situation will be a key, we have to sign a few players pretty soon.

I don't know the FA pool that well, are there any 3-4 DE or OL that would fit us well?

Cody is projected to go in the teens, right?

there is a high school quarterback in northern california who really looks good. he has no college experience but his h.s. team is undefeated and................
    he has great footwork.
he is 6 feet tall and has an ok arm......but he has footwork and swagger.

Seymour will hit FA, if the Jet's are interested, the Raiders have him just for this year.

    Here's a site that lists 2010's Free Agents...http://www.footballsfuture.com/freeagents.html

I'd rather draft a 3-4 DE....Oghobaase, Wootton, Jones, Odrick, CJ Wilson, Carrington are some options, alot of 3-4 DE's in the upcoming draft.

Wootton is my favorite, local Don Bosco kid, that has been downgraded cause of injuries this year. Will be available in mid-late rd 2.

Cody should be a Mid-Rd 1 pick. Things change though, we never know, it's early. Cody has had some nagging injuries and a questionable motor by some scouts. He still is a dominate player.

Yeah, it would be smart to take advantage of all the 3-4 DE in this Draft.

Cody in the 1st and Wootton in the 2nd would be huge for our defense. Then we can go OL in the 4th.

CB and RT seem like the positions to fill in FA.

Cody seems to be a boom/bust player. He takes up space well, but he can't push his lineman back as well as I would like to see. I think we might be able to get Cody in the 2nd, unless Cody loses 30lbs. Would someone like Suh, Dunlap, or McCoy work well as a NT/DE?
