The best quarterback in this league had one of the worst season's statistically for a quarterback as a rookie. Peyton Manning threw 28 interceptions as a rookie quarterback because the idiots in Indianapolis tried to make him do too much. Manning threw multiple picks in almost every game as a rookie. (I am in no way comparing Mark Sanchez to Peyton Manning in terms of talent, but look how that situation turned out...) Mark Sanchez has the talent to win games, we've all seen it...but we are asking for far too much out of him. This team was winning games with CONSERVATIVE play calling and a stout defense. These losses are falling more on Brian Schottenheimer than on Mark Sanchez - he is calling plays that require Mark Sanchez to force the ball downfield. By throwing this kid into the fire this coaching staff took a huge risk. If the fans give up on him, he'll lose his confidence and the franchise will be in the gutter for close to a decade.
when you rush for 300 yds all you ask is not to throw 5 INT's. He did! and i'm not giving up on him I'm just saying we didn't ask a lot from him today.
You don't get what I'm saying... Sanchez shouldn't be put in a situation where he has to take multiple shots down the field, especially if we rush for that many yards. Those were horrible play calls. The only pick that was ALL on Sanchez was the most costly one - the INT in overtime.
i agree. shitty game on his part. not the first, most certainly not the last. too bad our whiny vagoo fans might not see it the same. learning experience. ask peyton if he wishes he had less playing time his rookie year... ask him if he thinks the bumps he took helped him. rhetorical questions for sure.
I agree it was mostly on Schottenheimer, I didn't see one slant or screen to a WR that has been working so well the first few games, I don't even think he targeted one receiver other then Edwards. Good post though, I'm still behind Sanchez just pissed off at what has happened the past couple of weeks.
I don't think he's a bust, I'm just wholesale pissed off at this team, right now. Sanchez is about the only person on the field that deserves a pass, merely because of that fact that he's a rookie.
I used to be a rookie QB in the NFL myself, and I can say first hand that it takes a few bad games before you can really get comfortable. He'll do fine.
He's definitely not a bust. But he played TERRIBLE today. Whether it was the play calling or not, Sanchez is the one making the throws. He failed to lead this offense at all. If the Bills weren't so GOD awful and this turned into a blowout, we would have definitely seen Clemens.
He already has no confidence. Did you see him staring off into space on the bench? Not just this week, either. He sucks. Manning never lost a game when his team ran for 300 yards, OK? If he NEVER threw the ball, the Jets win and still have a shot at the playoffs. Stop it already. He sucks. Deal with it.
