I might as well make this thread since there isn't one. Clayton Kershaw starts Game 1, Vicente Padilla Game 2, Hiroki Kuroda Game 3, Randy Wolf Game 4. Interesting that Kuroda got healthy, Chad Billingsley isn't starting and Jon Garland is off the roster for this series. It will probably come down to the bullpens anyway, which is why I'm confident. And unlike last year it's not just the Manny show, everyone can hit. No rainouts here, sun and fun in Mannywood. Think Blue, Go Dodgers!!!!!
I was thinking about posting it last night, but didn't get to it. I'll listen on the radio as much as I can. You don't often get a rematch in the LCS, but we get one here.
Funny Tweet from National Lampoon: Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and his wife Jamie have separated. No word on who gets custody of the child: Manny Ramirez.
Dodgers-Phillies played in 1977 and 78, the Dodgers won both times and went on to lose to the Yankees in the World Series before finally beating them in 1981. Those were the days when I became a Dodger fan, because the Mets traded Dave Kingman in 1977 and I hated the Yankees. I'm not sure if there's been a rematch in consecutive years in the NL since, I kind of think there hasn't been. Possibly Braves-Pirates in the early 90s? I don't know.
Yeah, Braves-Phillies in 1991-1992. Astros-Cardinals in 2004 and 2005. Plus, St. Louis was in the NLCS in 2006 against the Mets and won the World Series.
Thanks, I forgot about Astros-Cards. When you get older you remember old shit better than recent shit. I should also point out that I hated Pete Rose and the Big Red Machine when I was a kid, another main reason I gravitated to the Dodgers after the Dave Kingman trade in 1977. That was the first time I'd ever seen a team ahead of the Reds and the Reds not win it all.
I don't understand why Wolf isn't pitching until Game 4. Wolf-Kershaw-Kuroda-Padilla would make more sense to me. Wouldn't you want him to get two starts, anyway? Against a lineup featuring lefties. A real head-scratcher.
started watching as Loney homered. Turned on the TV and saw the replay. Now in the 3rd, still 1-0. Furcal-Ethier-Manny-Kemp tonight I really don't get it. Why would you bump the lefty up in the order against Cole Hamels, especially given that he's 0/6 career?
wow, awful calls. Howard first struck out on a check swing, that wasn't called. Then on 3-2, he takes a pitch over the plate and it's called ball 4. Obviously a strike.
Ruiz has 8 RBI in 15 ABs this season against the Dodgers. Just hit a three run homer. Kershaw has lost the strike zone. He'd been getting squeezed all game, and this inning he just can't get it over.
Both pitchers have walked each other. Kershaw is going to get pulled shortly. No outs in the 5th. Hardly any strikes. 3 walks, one homer.
weird play. Victorino goes down swinging with Rollins on first. Ball gets away and Victorino tries to go to first, but is called out because first base was occupied, even though Rollins was taking second. Two wild pitches this inning moves Rollins from first to third. runner on 3rd, 2 outs. Even if Kershaw gets out of it, his pitch count is like 85.
 at TBS. They thought the third ball to Utley was ball four, so they were showing 0-1 to Utley and runners on the corners when it was really 3-1 to Utley with a runner on third. Then they showed 0-2 to Utley instead of 3-2. He did walk him and here's Howard. two run double and Kershaw is coming out. What a horrible inning for him.
Dodgers put in a bad position. Troncoso throws three pitches and gets 1 out, and is now out of the game along with Hudson. They were hoping to get Kershaw through the 5th so they could then pinch hit for him, but he can't, Troncoso comes in, and now Troncoso is out. Leadoff double for Martin, Hudson pinch hits and Ks, then Furcal singles. Martin gets held at third because it's a four run game. Here's Ethier.
In the 5th inning, I'd need the first reliever to at least go an inning and a third if he could. I would've had him come in and bunt, if he knows how.
Ethier hit a DP ball, but the throw to first was way over Howard's head. Rollins didn't make the throw on time, Utley's timing was thrown off, and he made a poor throw to first. Ethier gets an undeserved RBI. Here's Man-roids.
Manny goes deep on a low change. 5-4 Huge that the DP didn't happen. Manny has the record for most homers in postseason history.
