So you're saying that every player who's ever done the same thing that Brady had a case for a "legitimate call?" That's all you've got? Wow, that's disappointing for you.
no, I didn't say anything of the sort, and your need to jump to such an extreme conclusion reveals how bad your logic is. logic 101, any argument that depends on extremes is a bad argument. the only thing you should be disappointed in is how ridiculously unintelligent your post was. some have legitimate pleas, and other not so legitimate, but none as laughable egregious as Brady's. logic lesson part 2 - similarities do not identify identical acts. Tom Brady's whining clearly was different even though it is similar to other calls in the fact that he was asking for a call. Tom Brady's cry for that call was far more extreme than any plea for one in recent memory, and that is why he is being ridiculed by everyone, not just Jet fans. you can't dispute that. clearly you are disappointed in that fact that you can't, so your are reduced to condescending remarks that actually only make you look ridiculous because they clearly don't address what I have said and reveal either a significant comprehension disability or a plain lack of intelligence. I'll let you figure out which.
You seem like an intelligent guy yourself, so it's a little disappointing to hear how you believe you've got me all sized up while sitting there behind your keyboard. But hey, if that's your thing... if what you do is jump on message boards, make assumptions, and tell people they're unintelligent because you've read a total of maybe four or five paragraphs of something they wrote... there's got to be some sort of reason for it. You did miss one thing though Professor. I wrote, "the point is that none of you are any more capable of objectively looking at the situation than I am" two posts ago. Did I say I thought I would be the model of objectivity on this one? Of course not. Our HOF quarterback is back after missing an entire season. I see a guy go at his knees, you see something else. I don't think that's unusual or unnatural. I'm also wondering what kind of system you developed that quantifies the egregiousness of players fishing for calls. Seems to me that's another thing that falls squarely into the "subjective" bucket. But hey, what do I know? I'm too busy writing all of these "ridiculously unintelligent" posts.
of course it is subjective, but if the media backlash of the call and ridicule of Tom Brady is any indication, the general consensus seems to be on the side of my position, which again would only leave you the one not able to see it objectively because Jets fans opinions seem to fall in line with the entire public opinion.
I've now twice stated that I'm not a good objective observer in this situation. Conversely, being in the majority does not in and of itself make you objective. You could be in the majority and still be biased. My only earlier/original point was that the Jets' fan base is no more objective about this than the Patriots' fan base. There's so much spite and vitriol for Brady on this board... Suggs could have taken out both of his knees (which is what would have happened if Brady hadn't just barely gotten out of the way) and you guys would still be calling him a pussy.
It looked bad, but it seems like it's getting overplayed. Suggs went straight for his knees and it's not hard to understand why Brady would be sensitive about that. Everyone in the league begs for calls, even if we don't see it with them openly waiving their arms. I don't think we would be seeing guys acting like this as much if the league weren't calling it so often.
