Im pretty sure we have 4th because it would be pretty difficult for Philly to get our pick now due to Lito being hurt. I like the Davis pick hopefully he could last to our pick with OT's usually going higher nowadays. Idk about Morgan playing DE in the 3-4 he would need to add a little some more weight but he is definitely a player.
Not to Hijack E's thread........Lito's playing time is based on the pick being between 2-4. The Key is the Jets signing Lito before March and giving him a promised 10 Mill bonus. It ain't happening...Lito will hit Free Agency and probably re-up with the Jets....ala Vilma last w/ the Saints. Morgan is a great player and probably could bulk up some without losing speed. He's around 275lbs and his quickness would be the important factor, not his weight.
Well, I'll change some stuff up tomorrow...too busy watching the game tonight. Thanks for clarifying all of that Sheppard stuff guys.
I do agree about an offensive lineman early on but I dont know that early. Also while I dont doubt Derrick Morgan's ability, I'm not sure if he is big enough for what a 3-4 end is required to do
Exactly, yeah im not doubting Morgan's playing abilty and how could effective he could be in the 34 , just saying he needs to add a lilttle weight if he's pick by us thats it.
I hope that Andrew Jackson turns out to be a 6th round pick like what Donald Thomas has been for the Miami Dolphins.
I just made some changes due to the Lito and O'Connell trades... (Thanks to the guys that cleared that shit up)
Jackson is definitely an NFL ready lineman. Fresno is going to be spitting out some top talent in the next few years. If you look at how they've played this season, they haven't really disappointed - The Dogs are 2-3 with all three losses coming to teams with a combined record of 15-1. I'm very surprised with how well they've played. Next year will be the year for the Bulldogs...especially if Ryan Mathews stays for his senior season. Also, keep an eye on this kid: RB Lonyae Miller. He's taken the backseat to star Ryan Mathews. Miller was just invited to the East-West Shrine Game. At 5'11 220, Miller supposedly runs close to the 4.3s. I'm really excited to see him play against all of the talent at the Shrine Game. Underclassmen that could behigh draft picks coming out of Fresno over the next few seasons: RB Ryan Mathews OT Bryce Harris OG Devan Cunningham OT Kenny Wiggins DE Chris Carter LB Ben Jacobs LB Kyle Knox WR Devon Wylie
I like version 2 a lot more than version 1. After watching both play this year, I'd say Austin would have more potential in a 34 than Morgan. I really liked the latter going into the season, but he was really disappointing against Miami, hopefully he plays better against the Hokies this weekend. He has to get bigger, yes, but his frame should allow that. Austin has the talent of a top level guy, but just has to get his act together. I think he could be the Jets version of Haloti Ngata, with size and speed lined up next to the nose tackle. Where he'll end up in the draft, I have no idea, but I'm fairly sure he's the type to go pro anyway. As for Anthony Davis, I'm a kind of split on him. On side he's definitely versatile and highly skilled, on the other hand he's lazy. I'd honestly rather use a later pick on the offensive side anyway, but that's just because I think we need immediate help and depth on that D-line. I do like getting a passrusher though, I feel like there's a place on this team for someone who can get to the quarterback when they're rushing only four.
Derrick Morgan is just wearing down and it's sad to watch such a talented player become almost invisible in the second half of most games. GT has absolutely no depth on the defensive line.
I actually liked it better when you had us picking a NT in the 4th round. Dont get me wrong ---- I like Antonio Coleman, I just dont know if OLB is a need right now. I know,.....I know,....you can never have too many pass rushers. Its a tough call --- the guy looks like a playmaker. Same thing w/Jermaine Cunningham of Florida --- the guy plays DE now, but is destined for the 3-4 OLB position in the pros.
I could see us going tackle in the first round, but I wouldnt do it. When we pick we may have a situation were we have a more talented OT than we do DE. But our D line is at a state where all of the starters will have to be replaced in the near future (the o line is more or less that tackle spot for the time being) I would rather start building that now, then fixing one spot on the offensive line
There seems so be a great load of DL and OL players in the first 4 rounds, that could be great for this team. Do you see any ways, that we could get more picks, by trading some of the guys we have now? Would it be worth trading 2011 picks to have more this year? Can we get anything for TJ? Woody? E Smith or Leonhard? Clemens? Maybe B Thomas could be dealt?
Seriously... If he doesnt get fired he is obviously blinded by his confidence in some or his former players. If BT has a great season we could get a 3rd... maybe more... E. Smith is showing some promise... maybe a 3rd aswell... Everybody knows we are not keeping TJ... but Mangini is not the sharpest tool in the box, so maybe a 5th. That would leave us with 1st, 2nd, 2 x 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th round picks! We could pick 2 DL and 2 OL and be fucking awesome in 2010!!!
