Is Dick Curl black or white?

Seriously though, this is the type of thing you give ONE pass on. There's a rookie mistake. Hopefully there aren't many more.

BigGun - hurry and send a letter to ESPN so they can release Hermy and he can coach us again too!

Rediculous. Rex can make a mistake. Not every coach is perfect. Even Bellicheat had his mistakes.

you would figure someone like callahan who has hc experience would atleast give him a nudge on the sidelines.

I wouldn't have used them either. I would have hoped for defensive stops. Why give them more time? Who plays the game with the belief that the other team is scoring on this drive?

Regardless of whether or not they scored, having more time on the clock could not hurt the Jets in that situation, only help them. If the Jets stop them from scoring they can just take a knee and end the game. If they do score the Jets have time to respond.

Agreed. You have to use the timeouts there. There is absolutely no downside of using at least one timeout. If you stopped the Dolphins and still had about :45 seconds left you would have still been able to run out the clock (because the Dolphins had only 2 timeouts left themselves).

Also, depending on the situation the Dolphins might have tied up the game with a FG and the Jets would have wanted some time do something with the ball after a kickoff. However, Rex is not the first (nor will he be the last) coach to make this same mistake. Maybe he was too dumfounded wondering why his defense sucked so much that game and couldn't concentrate.

Absolutely. Not calling timeout made zero sense in the situation, and i was shocked that the Jets never killed the clock.
Rex said afterward that he made a mistake, and that he thought his D was going to stop them (despite all evidence to the contrary leading up to that point).

Like WSW said, as a rookie coach this is the ONE pass he gets in my book for piss-poor clock management

I am expecting some form of compensation for using my joke.

Should I expect some sort of civil settelment?

Bottom line: the defense had to man-up and stop the fins from going down the field in the first place and didn't get it done. It's all on the D and no one else.

The defense sucking doesn't change the fact that Ryan fucked up managing the clock.

What does this have to do with kneeling. If the Phags kicked a field goal to tie the game at that point then kneeling is meaningless. There was no reason to stop the clock for the opposing team to rest and gameplan when you have the lead and think you can keep them out of the endzone. There was NOT enough time to think if they tied it up we would be able to put together a drive. Rex was playing for the TD stop, hold them to a field goal and go into overtime. That is all........it didnt work out.
