Has there been a more invisible guy all year on this defense? I know the Dline in a 3-4 is supposed to control the line of scrimmage allowing the LBs to make plays but this guys makin alot of money for alot of nothing on the field....We need some big bodies up front if we want to have any chance at stoppin the wildpussy in a few weks.
glad im not the only one who feels this way...I mean hes been a solid jet for awhile now and got his big contract not to long ago..be nice if he earned some of it instead of getting marijuana possession charges...hes supposed to be a leader of this defense and team as evidenced by the giant C on his jersey yet im just seein ZERO from him in terms of production and leadership
no doubt but we need production else where at somepoint...if hes getting double and sometimes even triple teamed last week, that means guys are one on one or unblocked and just arent making plays...plain and simple. Whether its sceme or just ellis fading before our eyes as a 3-4 DE, hes gotta start taking some heat of 77 and make some plays. As for our pass rush, its just non existent...and IMO its the players not the scheme.
I know pressure is important but you have to get sacks too, it seems our best defensive plays are when Jenkins bust thru the middle, he definitely needs some help out there, he looks like he is starting to get frustrated about it too....
Every one of our front 7 was invisible yesterday save Harris and Jenkins. Ellis was by no means the worst of them.
i was happy to see that shaun was actually spelled correctly in the title. Other than that, I'm afraid i have nothing to add to this thread.
sacks are important but not as important as constant pressure. Sacks are nice bc its a "reward," but they key is to just consistently make the qb feel uneasy back there. You dont need to necessarily sack him but just keep the heat on. Some qbs are near impossible to sack (dan marino/peyton manning) because there insanely quick release, but if you keep the heat on, knock them around and make them feel uneasy..they make poor decisions. Marino and manning dont just throw INTs bc of a sack every once in awhile, they do it bc of CONSTANT PRESSURE forcing them into bad decisions. BTW thats not to discredit what your saying bc your correct as well, this is just my .02
We could get Peppers from the Panthers for a pair of picks, plus a plethora of pads. Seriously though, there was reports he is being shopped around.
Peppers is a 4-3 DE, not a 3-4 DE. Unless youd want to bring him in as an OLB...still doesnt solve our DEs getting manhandled though.
He'd fit in nicely at DE. He's a DE pass rusher, which is what we need. He's 6"7, 290, I think he'd be great for the 3-4. Shaun used to be in the 4-3, they can change.
Yes shaun used to be in a 4-3 (where he was a probowler) and nowwww hes invisible. Sooooo why would you suggest bringing in ANOTHER 4-3 probowler and convert him into a 3-4 DE. Not saying it COULDNT work bc peppers is a tremendous athlete...but why take the chance? IMO FWIW we need two massive DEs to compliment jenkins....to the effect SD had w/ castillo, olshansky, and williams. Two big body mammoth DEs with a pocket collapsing unblockable DT. This allows free range for ur LBs/DBs to make plays and force turnover. Last night seeing the dolphins Oline just manhandle our front 7 just made me sick to my stomach, especially living in the heart of fin country.
