Monday sucked. But not completely. First and foremost, that was a goddamn great Monday Night Football game. I believe there were seven lead changes? Exciting stuff.

Obviously, we Jet fans expected more from our highly-touted defense, but anyone familiar with football knows this fact: there is no more difficult game to win in the NFL than a division road game. Especially when it's the biggest game of the week.

So here are my list of positives, from the other two phases of the game.

    Offense:

~First and foremost, zero turnovers. That's huge. Mark answered his sloppy New Orleans play by protecting the ball. This has been lost in the dark side clamor, but our quarterback of the future recognized a problem and addressed it within one week. That's development.

~Obviously, Braylon Edwards. We didn't bring in Braylon to match J-Co's target to catch ratio, we brought him in to make circus catches, to be a red zone threat and to be a big name wideout who would catch the ref's attention during light contact plays. I didn't expect him to do all three on his first outing, though. Over a hundred yards and a touch from a three day old Jet, if you factor in the PI. That's excellent by anyone's standards.

    ~The deep ball lives!

~Leon Washington may push to start soon. I'm still amazed at how effective Leon is between the tackles, but I think his best play was at the end of the second quarter. Leon catches a Sanchez dump-off, and heads to sideline. Instead of going right out of bounds, which was the major priority of the play, Leon cuts inside the defensive back, picks up the first down and then gets out. That's what happens when smart meets quick.

    Special Teams

~We've got a fucking punter! Heads-up play of the night has to go to Weatherford. Everyone who lobbied hard for A.J. Trapasso must be pleased with what we got instead.

~Brad Smith once again showed why he belongs on this roster. Well... Westhoff's roster, at least. It's one thing to pick up a fluke scramble first down from your punter, but after that, when the receiving team is now alert, Westy still calls the fake?! Terrific play call, terrific effort from Smith to get the first.

~Jay Feely is a rock. I don't give a shit if that first kick was just inside the uprights, it was inside the uprights.

As I see it, we lost in one phase of the game today against not just a good gameplan, but an excellent gameplan. Sparano and Henning called an amazing game. We also need to give credit to a very, very stout Miami offensive line and superb play from Chad Henne. I've been humming The Dead Schembechlers all week long, but there's no denying that guy did some special things last night. He ran a great two-minute drill. The roll-out was all play-calling, but before that, on a third and five under extreme pressure, he dropped in a perfect throw to Greg Camarillo along the near sideline over Coleman for a first down. It was a throw Brady tried to make against us a few weeks ago in the fourth, but couldn't.

Well done Chad and the Gang. You're fucking dead in two weeks.

I will be at the Dolphins @Jets in a few weeks

I will be ignorant, drunk, and angry.

That is all I have to say.

Clowney was a huge positive from this game. We'd all been calling for Rex to put him in the slot, and last night it took Cotchery's injury to finally let him show what he could do. I think he'll be a fantastic #3 receiver and perfect complement to Cotchwards

Might be #2 next week, Cotch is likely out for the game.

We need to go for big plays and not settle for field goals we got 2 amazing receivers Braylon and Cotchery, and a true fucking talent coming up Clowney.

    Very well said.

One of my favorite highlights from last night's game was Leon knocking Crowder on his ass with such force that he placed Channing in a perfect position for blowing his own man-chowder.

That was in a nutshell the reason I love Leon and (just my opinion) HATE Mrs. Jones

I think we should get a twitter petition going and everyone can tweet to the Jets official account that Leon should be the main back at this point.

In all honesty TJ should be the third back....

You forgot to add one more positive for the game. Well, it probably doesn't belong there anyways.

We lost and are angry at the freaking phish. We get to take our revenge with in 12 days now. No bad considering Phins had to wait 112 days last year. I expected a victory, but the home crowd advantage probably just tipped the game in their favor. When they meet us our home, Rex better pull out the rabbit!

In all fairness, TJ played pretty good last night. I was impressed by some of his cuts. On one of the plays, I thought we'd be losing about 2-3 yards. But he cut back, and literally exploded at a very minimal gap side ways and was able to pick up about 2-3 yards.

As for Leon, he relies heavily on cut backs and side steps. I love Leon's play, but saw maybe couple of plays where if he had ran straight, could have picked up lot more yardage. Instead, he cut back and the defenders caught him by the ankles. So Leon should learn to run straight up aswell and use cut backs as a surprise move when he's sure it'll work. Bring on the naysayers.

Weatherford had a nice run on the fake punt, but all in all didn't actually punt very well. A punter with the ability to put a team inside the 10 would help the defense out when they're struggling to get off the field like they were last night and Weatherford didn't do that.

I totally agree with this statement ...i was saying it during the game yesterday when it was clear he could have gained a few more yards! Love that play though when he faked going out of bounds and cut it back in for a couple more ...Leon kept our running game moving!

Yeah. I liked We'ford's run, but his punts didn't get any back spin on them.

Thank you for this. The fake was great but he punts into the endzone every time pinning is in order, and when a long punt is needed, punts in the 40-43 yard range. Still need an upgrade here.

yeah i agree.. the run, coolio. the punts. stop giving them 20 yards.
as for brad smith. here's where i eat crow. nice job fighting for that first down. guy impressed me last night. i don't hate him, as much

for the most part i agree with the OP.

side note: TJ needs to stop that stutter BS and freaking run north to south. he's powerful when he wants to be.

Thomas Jones and "explode" don't belong in the same sentence together. He is slow as molasses to the hole, and that whole hop step thing is like a big "hit me" flag. We need more touches to Leon and to Greene and less to Mr. 1 yard gain.

I agree on the running downhill comment, but Leon always produces so I say let him run how ever he wants.
