agreed, this loss is unbareably hard to take, especially with fucking marc anthony and jlo appearing on the screen the whole time, on national television, but its clearly not the same old jets. this one was fucking gutwrenching though. how awful this is, christ.
what else would you call it? When you've watched this team long enough, you get tired of them folding every time they get your hopes up, no matter how good they're suppossed to be. Yeah I know Miami has the #1 rushing offense, but we made Henne look like he belongs in the Pro Bowl. Yeah, I know the wildcat is tricky to defend, but our defensive performance tonight made it look like the dolphins sabotaged every DVD player in our film room and replaced the tapes with illegal copies of Space Jam. It clearly is the same ole Jets. At least Edwards looked good, too bad i cant say the same for the defense. Edwards knew more of what was going on being here less than a week than the defense did.
What are the same old Jets? They are a team that shows up to play for a few games and looks like contenders but then crashes back to reality and lays eggs on the field. Is this what the team is doing this year? Maybe, too early to tell. But one thing is for sure, the team that showed up the first 3 weeks is not the team that showed up tonight or last week. Let's see how we rebound against the Bills and Raiders. The same old Jets would lose one of these, and barely escape out of the other one. I'll stick to my season long prediction of 9-7
Tonight was the epitome of the SOJs. They don't die until the team fucking kills them - and so far - not happening.
they played like the same old jets, but are they the same old jets??? personally i dont think so, id like to have a little more faith in my time at week 5 in the season.
against an offense that only a team with no shame would be willing to run the defense is good, it didn't match up well against the dolphins, it happens
I still think we are the SOJ until we win the goddamn Super Bowl. That, to me, is the only thing that can break the curse.
I think this is the Same Old Jets.... I don't think I have ever seen this team consistently be able to stop the run up the gut.. EVER It's amazing because the Jets always get the run up the middle stuffed...
It's not the same old Jets, it doesn't matter if you are the Jets or any other team in the NFL, if you fail to look at your history you are doomed to repeat it. Schottenheimer learned from his mistakes of the last few games. Thomas Jones busted his ass with driving after contact, something he had been criticized with for many games. Sanchez maintained possession of the ball and lessened leading with his eyes. Edwards showed that he can hang onto the ball. This is an offense that stepped up this week and showed that it could improve and learn from past mistakes. The defensive approach relied on reputation and not on action. If you don't strike fear into the heart of a quarterback then that fear will dissipate. Getting the wind knocked out of you strikes fear, staying in the pocket and completing passes erases fear. We sent a message of pesky fleas not A-10 Thunderbolts.
it's the fifth game of the season and we're 3-2 and tied for first in the division, with a rookie QB. so are we the SOJ? no...... was this game SOJ's-esque? yes we can start throwing that tag around if we pull a stunt like last year or rich cotite era or missed field goals against Pittsburgh in 04. then we'd be the SOJ. personally, i think this team is much tougher than those jets of past. Rex ryan had a shit game for the first time....he's not god. it sucks to experience something for the first time (last week with sanchez, this week with the D/D play calling) but it's going to happen.. the problem with jets fans in general is that we tend to go to such extremes. we were on such an emotional high from the 3-0 start and the close game to NO that we expected to win this. if we were 0-4 or 1-3 the reactions would be completely different. this team is human....it played exceptional on both sides of the ball in the first 3 games (at least good enough to win). the past two games have been the story of lack of lopsided play by the offense/defense. it's the NFL, it happens
This may shock you but teams are allowed to lose, I know it's crazy but it's true. Again, the same old Jets have been dead for well over a decade. We have had many good teams here since 1997 and we have a really good team this year. Our D will not play like that every week and our O took a major step forward. This was a division road game against a desperate team that is a decent team. We didn't lose to the '08 Lions.
The problem is the Jets and Rex talk too much. Don't get me wrong I like him and wouldn't want anyone else coaching the team, but concentrate on playing not talking. If your good it will show in your play, not by talking about it. One of the reason everyone is upset is because we expected too much of this team. After last year most fans would have been happy with a 9-7 record, they win a few games talk a bunch of crap and everyone thinks Superbowl. I've been a Jet fan for 39 years, this is only one game, but losing to Miami of all teams sucks, on national TV really sucks and having to buy the guy I work with lunch, a Dolphin fan blows. The anger of last nights loss is subsiding and the green color glasses I was wearing have turned clear again, I realize, I am a Jet fan and that is the way it goes.
